Metastasis occurs in 25-50% of patients diagnosed with primary renal cell carcinoma (RCC), although only 6% of RCC metastases manifest on the skin. We present a unique case of a slowly growing clear cell RCC metastasis of the scalp in a middle-aged male that was RCC stain negative. The lesion clinically appeared to be a benign pyogenic granuloma, however, the diagnosis of metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma was made based on histology. Because cutaneous metastases may masquerade as other more benign tumors, the physician must be clinically suspicious of vascular appearing lesions on the scalp.

In his book Individuals and Their Rights, Tibor Machan presents an argument deriving individual rights fro~m an ethics of rational egoism (or, to use his term, classical egoism). Machan cites Ayn Rand throughout his book, and regards his o w n arguments as a more detailed and systematic presentation of the argument sketched by Rand. However, I submit that Machan's argument is significantly different from Rand's. Rand's arguments are often misinterpreted in a form similar to Machan's. Neste trabalho a citometria de fluxo foi empregue para determinar o tamanho do genoma de seis espécies de fungos Pucciniales (Basidiomycota), Melampsora pulcherrima, Puccinia behenis, P. cichorii, P. pimpinellae, P. vincae e Uromyces dianthi, agentes causais de ferrugem em Mercurialis annua, Silene latifolia, Cichorium intybus, Pimpinella villosa, Vinca major e Dianthus caryophyllus, respetivamente.
