The Aleks bot is a bot designed for automatic completion of the Aleks math program

The project originally started when I was tired of doing Aleks, however as the teachers stopped using Aleks my motivation changed to seeing if I could do it

How Will It Work?

There are many paths that I have already taken as you can see in the commit history. Each of them had their pros and evolved as I became better at coding

This version will likely incorperate two of the previous methods

• A community driven tool styled after services like 2captcha
• Scraping the webpage for the numbers and doing the math on them likely using sonething like math.js

Side Note: This project has evolved over the years and will likely continue to do so. Everything in this will likely change including the language (Which has already changed three times). I don't know if I will ever finish this project either so don't get your hopes up.

How do you cheat on aleks test.

There are a few ways to cheat on ALEKS, but they are all risky and may not work.

• Using a calculator: ALEKS has a built-in calculator, but you are not permitted to use any other calculators. You will be accused of cheating if another calculator is found in your possession.
• Looking at other people's answers: A Respondus LockDown Browser is used by ALEKS, preventing you from viewing other people's screens and reading their responses. You will be accused of cheating if someone catches you looking at someone else's responses.
• Printing out notes or answers: Printing out notes or solutions is not permitted while taking the test using ALEKS. You will be accused of cheating if you are discovered using printed notes or responses.
• Using online resources: Utilising online resources: ALEKS has an integrated help system, but no other online resources are available. Any use of online sources will result in a cheating warning.

It's important to note that ALEKS has a number of anti-cheating measures in place. These measures include:

• Screen surveillance: ALEKS keeps an eye on your screen for any unusual activity. You will be accused of cheating if something suspicious is discovered about you.
• Webcam surveillance: ALEKS watches your face through your webcam for any suspicious activity. You will be marked as cheating if you are observed looking away from your screen or acting in any other suspicious ways.
• Response analysis: ALEKS looks for patterns in your answers that might indicate cheating. You will be accused of cheating if you are discovered to be answering questions too quickly or accurately.

If you're caught cheating on ALEKS, you could face a number of consequences, including:

• Having your score invalidated
• Being banned from using ALEKS
• Being expelled from your school

It's not worth cheating on ALEKS. The consequences are simply not worth it. If you're struggling with a concept, there are better ways to get help. You can ask your teacher for help, or you can find online resources that can help you learn the material.

Here are some tips for raising your ALEKS score without cheating:

All students start ALEKS with an Initial knowledge Check. An ALEKS Knowledge Check asks you nearly 20-30 questions to define their exact knowledge condition in your ALEKS course. ALEKS is a poor way to really teach people math.

I use and have used ALEKS a online course assignment and topic distributor. It basically helps the instructor not have to grade things and the questions are automated from a pool of questions. Anyways , ALEKS i imagine promotes itself upon knowing what topic students really know ,but they have know concern about how the student feels when he or she is learning. The bar and scoring system they use i feel over stresses the student. The explanations given when starting a new topic are utterly confusing. The ALEKS assessment gauges your math skills and provide resources to help you prepare for a math or statistics course. The assessment is required for some courses and recommended for others and is designed to help you find the right math course for your needs.

You should take the ALEKS assessment before meeting with your adviser to plan for your first semester at Penn State World Campus.

The assessment results serve several purposes:

• Placement — determine your appropriate starting levels in mathematics courses
• Basic Skills — identify basic mathematics areas in which you need additional preparation for college-level course work
• Educational Planning and Academic Advising — take a critical first step in your education plans, laying a strong foundation in mathematics

After completing the assessment, you can also take advantage of the ALEKS Prep and Learning modules to refresh your knowledge and prepare yourself to succeed in your math and statistics courses.

Courses for Which the ALEKS Assessment Is Recommended or Required

To enroll in the following courses, you must take the ALEKS assessment, unless you have transfer credits from another institution that have been evaluated and are equivalent to the prerequisite course needed.

How to Take the ALEKS Assessment

• Set aside 2–3 hours to take the assessment . Plan to take it in a distraction-free place where you can do your best work.
• Access the assessment in LionPATH . You can access the assessment via a link in the Academic Records section of your LionPATH homepage. Next Steps after Completing the ALEKS Assessment

• Let your adviser know when you have completed the assessment .
• After completing the assessment, work through the ALEKS Prep and Learning module . ALEKS is designed not just for course placement, but for students to refresh their math knowledge. It is highly recommended that students complete the Prep and Learning module to better prepare for math courses and the time involved for study.

Requirements While Taking the Assessment

You will need your Penn State ID number to take the assessment. You should also have paper and pencils.  

You should not use your own calculator. If one is needed to answer a question, ALEKS will provide one automatically for that question.  

Assistance from someone else during the test is not allowed and violates Penn State's academic integrity policies . Completing the exam on your own will help to ensure that you are placed into a course you are prepared to take.

Retaking the Assessment

If you would like to retake the assessment, you may take it up to three times total. You must wait 24 hours between attempts and spend at least 10 hours using the learning modules before retaking the assessment the first time, and an additional 10 hours using the learning modules before taking the assessment for your third and final time.

Viewing and Understanding Your ALEKS Score

After you complete the ALEKS assessment, you will see your placement result in a pie chart showing the extent to which skills were mastered, a link to learning modules, and a link for more information.  

ALEKS scores cannot be interpreted in the same way as exam grades. Scores of 30 or higher reflect adequate preparation for college-level math. Learn more about understanding your ALEKS score .  

Regardless of your results, the ALEKS assessment will not allow you to receive credit for any required courses. The assessment is designed to help you prepare for any math courses you must take.

Thousands of students have been accused of cheating and paying others to do their work as the record number of misconduct cases forces universities to beef up their investigation departments.

The large-scale return of international students has reignited fears of a cheating black market linked to visa fraud, while forensic IT advances have helped investigators find more cheating students.

Australia’s higher education watchdog, Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), has warned that cheating companies run by criminal syndicates are becoming more aggressive in their pursuit of students and are even making threats against investigators.

New figures reveal Sydney University recorded a 1000 per cent increase in serious academic cheating referred to the registrar between 2021 and 2023, with extra resources needed to get through a backlog of cases.

Guy Curtis, an academic integrity expert from University of Western Australia, said universities had gotten much better at detecting contract cheating and were catching people even before markers had even looked at an assignment.

He said institutions were using forensic IT methods to find “patterns of engagement” with computer systems and detect contract cheating , where students pay companies or individuals to ghostwrite essays or assignments.

“What we know about contract cheating is that it’s still fairly prevalent [even with advances in AI] because students are worried about the ways to detect AI use,” Curtis said.

“There are forums on contract cheating writers and I’ve seen them discuss that students have been caught for using AI and come back to have real people write things for them.”

Curtis said the widespread return of international students after the pandemic also increased concerns of the intersection between visa and admission fraud, and contract cheating organised crime groups.

“The system would be such that a person coming into Australia who might be involved in a low-paid job or sex trafficking, comes to Australia on a student visa,” he said. “And part of the package for people who are exploiting that student as a worker is that the student’s enrolment in university is maintained by the fact they continue to pass courses, because the work is done by other people.”

At the University of Wollongong, substantiated allegations of academic misconduct rose almost 50 per cent in 2023 compared to 2022.

The university attributed much of the increase to a spike in misconduct on online exams and of the 526 matters, 406 resulted in a “low-level” outcome, and 120 in a “medium-level” outcome.

TEQSA’s director of the academic integrity unit, Dr Helen Gniel, said the watchdog was concerned about a rise in aggressive behaviour from contract cheating providers who often have links to organised crime.

“We know that blackmail [of students] happens,” she said. “We’ve seen direct evidence where people have written to TEQSA and said ‘I did all this student’s work and they didn’t pay me, I want you to take away their degrees’.

“[There’s also been] an uptick in aggression directed at the staff who do the really important work of detection.”

She said the watchdog was also concerned that contract cheating providers were expanding the services they offered to include such things as admissions fraud.

Sydney University said its move away from online exams in 2023 resulted in a reduction in exam misconduct. However, at the same time it reported a “concerning increase” in contract cheating cases – which involves students paying other people to do their work for them.

It said it increased resources to manage the record number of academic integrity breaches flowing through from 6608 cases in 2022 and 5076 new alleged breaches in 2023.

The university recorded 940 contract cheating cases in 2023, up from 444 in 2022.

The record number of alleged breaches in 2022 saw a three-fold increase in serious academic misconduct cases referred to the registrar during 2023: 1038 cases in 2023, up from 345 in 2022 and 92 in 2021.

“Alongside a number of indicators of misconduct, we also use a range of technologies to detect and investigate cases,” a spokeswoman said.

“Where appropriate, we investigate writing style, IP address, website access and use analytical data, text- and code-matching software, web bots and other resources.

“Our decision maker then makes a finding on the balance of probability, taking all the evidence into account.”

University of NSW, which did not provide 2023 data or answer specific questions, said its efforts were focused on educating students on the appropriate use of generative AI, the risks of engaging with contract cheating providers and penalties where academic misconduct is detected.

Curtis said that as universities got better at detecting cheating, they needed to have the resources to deal with the increased case load.

“I have seen in a few universities over the time, one of the reasons they develop a central unit of academic integrity is that they have instances where they have so many cases that they realise it breaks their existing system.”

Australia’s anti-cheating laws make it an offence to provide or advertise academic cheating services in higher education and give TEQSA the power to block access to sites providing the illegal services.

Late last month, TEQSA blocked 79 new websites that offer contract cheating services, bringing the total number of banned pages to almost 370.
