Working with InDesign / PowerPoint templates

Downloading indesign templates.

When downloading the InDesign templates, which are saved together with other files in a zip folder, please proceed as follows:

  • First set up a new folder on your work computer in which the template is to be saved.
  • Click on the zip symbol with the right mouse button and select “Save target as”, select the folder you set up, and save the zip file there.
  • There, once again right-click on the zip symbol and select “Filzip” and then “extract here”. Now there should be 4 elements in your folder, 2 folders (, “Fonds”, “Links”) as well as the actual InDesign file which you can now open in the InDesign program.
  • When downloading, please always ensure that the folders belonging to the file (“Bibliothek”, “Fonds”, “Links”) are always saved together with the actual InDesign file, as otherwise links are lost.

Text formats and character formats have been created in the InDesign templates. The text formats always refer to the whole paragraph, the character formats can be applied to single words or even characters. The character formats override the paragraph formats. So if the appearance does not correspond to the selected format, please check the character formats to see if something is set there.

Generating printer spreads

The InDesign templates of the Media & Marketing Department have pre-set standard crop marks and a trim of 3mm. Please always inquire with the responsible printing house for their requirements before generating a PDF printer spread.

In the PowerPoint templates for brochures, a 2 mm bleed (as required by the KIM) is standard. You can see this if you show the ruler lines under the menu "View". Please do not place anything outside this area because it will be cut off. When you are finished, save the document with the command Save as PDF.

BISC-E Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge Europe

Registration for the bisc-e extended until 30 november 2023, join the bio-based innovation student challenge – europe.

uni hohenheim presentation

Are you ready to develop an innovative bio-based solution to help overcome hurdles standing in the way of a climate-neutral Europe? The Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge – Europe (BISC-E) invites students to design solutions in a multidisciplinary team and compete at national and international levels. Are you up to the challenge?

The German Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge (BISC-E) is organised by the University of Hohenheim as the national contact point. It is open for all Bachelor and Master students enrolled in a German university or university of applied sciences.

In a constantly evolving bioeconomy, we are looking for an innovative team to develop a new bio-based product or process to represent Germany in the challenge.

National Coordinators: Dr. Andreas Kiesel and Juliane Stoye Department of Biobased Resources in the Bioeconomy

Email: [email protected] , Phone: 0711 459 22852

What is the BISC-E

The BISC-E is a Europe-wide competition for Bachelor and Master students recognising excellence in the emerging bio-based sector. BISC-E seeks to raise awareness and involve students in the transition towards a bio-based economy. The Bio-based Industry Consortium (BIC) acts as a contact point for the BISC-E coordination and organises the European finals where the top student teams will compete against each other.

Choosing the winner team

All student teams will present their ideas to a jury from industry and science. The teams will have to support their presentation with evidence of sustainability, technical feasability and economic viability of the developed process or product. The jury will assess all applications and invite the preselected best teams to present their ideas in a 15 minutes live presentation. The winning team will receive personal coaching and will move on to compete in the EU finals in autumn 2024.

Registration

Regulations.

Please read all the provided rules and regulations carefully.

  • If you would like to participate, please determine a team coordinator and register your team via the online registration form above.
  • You will receive an email from us shortly after registration where we will ask the other names of the team members.
  • You will be invited to the online kick-off meeting, where we will give you more information about the course of the challenge.
  • You will have to find a supervisor at the university who will advise and guide you during the challenge.
  • Until 19 May 2024 you'll have time to design a viable bio-based product or process and send us your idea as a max. 10 minute video presentation.
  • The jury will decide on the best three teams who will be invited to the German final.
  • On 14 June 2024 the German final will take place at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart and the jury will choose the winner.
  • The winning team will receive coaching and training from BIC before participating in the European final in autumn.

Template supporting documents

Please download this template and use it for submitting your supporting documents.

Participation

  • Teams of 3 to 6 students are welcome to join the competition.
  • We highly advise interdisciplinary teams due to the multidisciplinary character of the challenge.
  • Mixed teams with students from both universities of applied sciences and universities or different institutions are encouraged.
  • All team members have to be enrolled in a German university or university of applied sciences.
  • Teams must find a supervisor e.g. a PhD student or a professor that will guide and support them throughout the challenge.
  • Students and supervisors can only be part of one team.
  • The developed innovative process or product will be judged on technical, sustainable and economic criteria.
  • Each team must appoint a team coordinator who is the person who applies and will be the contact point for further communication between organiser and team members.

Study structure

Admission category m1.

uni hohenheim presentation

The link to the curriculum can be found here .

Please check independently which approval category you belong to.

Registration policy

You can view the registration policy here .

If the requirements for admission to admission categories M1 according to sentence 1 (proof of a university degree in the field of economics with a standard period of study of at least three years or an equivalent degree) and sentence 2 (proof of German language skills usually by means of the "Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (DaF), unless the university entrance qualification was acquired at a German-language school or unless admission to a purely English-language course of study is applied for) is not fulfilled , applicants shall be assigned to admission category M3 in accordance with § 4 paragraph 9 sentence 1 c) if the courses of study specified in § 3 paragraph 1 no. 1 have a minimum proportion of health science subject content. This includes in particular achievements in medicine, pharmacy and nursing sciences. The minimum proportion exists if - at least 30 credit points are allocated to health sciences or - the corresponding proportion of semester hours is at least one sixth or - a corresponding minimum proportion results from other features of the degree program.

What is it about?

  • Special controlling and management tools for hospitals, medical care centers and networks
  • Value of health care services and specifics of health care markets
  • Information and incentive problems in health care institutions
  • Functioning of the German hospital insurance (GKV and PKV)
  • Opportunities and risks through the use of e-health, machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Basics of controlling within operational management and typical controlling instruments
  • Supplementary subjects by lecturers from practice (e.g. Advanced Topics in Health Care Management)
  • Special topics are examined in depth in (practical) seminars

I had some economics content in my degree, but is that enough for a management master's?

Don't worry, we provide mentors for students who have been admitted via M3. They will help you catch up on the content and advise you on which courses to take to bring you up to the same level as the other students within 1-2 semesters. In the past, this has worked very well for numerous successful graduates.

I have no experience with such qualification tests, which also cost money. Does it make sense to take such a test?

Absolutely. With the TM-WISO and GMAT tests (insert link), you massively increase your chances of admission, as they are included in the selection process at 40% in addition to the bachelor's grade (60%). You also cannot fail the tests, but the result is given as a percentage of the achievable points. In the M3 admission category in particular, experience has shown that even a rather mediocre result massively increases your chances of admission. In addition, you can also apply to other universities with both tests.

Do I have to study Health Care & Public Management in the M3 admission category after admission?

We assume that this is normally the case. In principle, however, it is also possible for students in admission category M3 to specialize in any possible specialization of the HMM. However, prerequisites, required additional courses must then be clarified with the person responsible for the specialization there.

Interest aroused, but you have further questions?

Then make an individual consultation appointment right away via ZOOM at [email protected]. The appointments take place about once a month and we reserve the right to conduct the consultation in small groups if necessary.

Enterolactone as a Potential Therapeutic Agent for Treatment of Type-two Diabetes

Type-two diabetes (T2D) results from insulin resistance causing persistent high blood glucose levels, despite a normal production of insulin. While studying the impact of various coffee polyphenol derivatives, we discovered that enterolactone (ENL) induces glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes. Insulin-dependent glucose uptake occurs in various cell types, but primarily in adipose and muscle cells. This study focuses on adipose cells, specifically characterizing the mechanism of ENL induced glucose uptake. The goal of our study is to characterize the molecular mechanism of ENL to promote glucose uptake in 3T3-L1 differentiated adipocytes. 3T3-L1 differentiated adipocytes were treated with Enterolactone in a concentration-dependent manner to determine its effect on glucose uptake. To ascertain the cellular route of glucose uptake, specific known glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) inhibitors were used (BAY-876 and Ritonovir). GLUT4 is a plasma membrane protein responsible for transporting glucose into the cell. To assess a portion of the intracellular mechanism of ENL Akt phosphorylation was tested. Akt phosphorylation serves as an intracellular mediator for bringing GLUT4 to the plasma membrane. The differentiated adipocytes, when treated with ENL, showed a significant increase in glucose uptake compared to the negative control. Treatment of adipocytes with ENL and BAY-876 (290nM) and with ENL and Ritonavir showed a significant decrease in glucose uptake. ENL treatments also showed a significant increase in Akt-phosphorylation. The results support that ENL induces glucose uptake in adipocytes and does so in a GLUT4 and Akt-phosphorylation dependent manner. This study provides data to support the hypothesis that ENL may be a useful treatment to provide an alternative method for maintaining proper blood glucose levels in individuals with T2D. Future research will seek to elucidate more of the intracellular mechanism of ENL to determine if it is a viable compound to be tested in an in-vivo model of T2D.
