Preparation

Before a business can effectively create and implement a marketing plan, it must first determine its target market. No matter how amazing the product, good, or service may be, not everyone is a potential customer! In this assignment you will consider a new product and then define the market you would target with your marketing efforts.

  • Select one of the following products, goods, or services as the basis for your written assignment:
  • An energy drink that uses all natural ingredients to boost energy levels and metabolism. This drink eliminates all of the harmful side effects that competitors’ products have.
  • An “intelligent” home system that monitors the residents’ movements through the house and sends information to family members, caregivers, and medical providers. For example, handrails on the stairs contain heart rate monitors.
  • A wireless virtual-reality headset that allows the user to experience 3D virtual reality programs including travel and games.
  • A “smart bed” that monitors each partner individually and makes adjustments on its own to keep people sleeping soundly. As sleeping positions change throughout the night, the bed self-adjusts to optimize the sleep surface and comfort level.
  • A chain of luxury hotels that offer luxury on-site pet accommodations for their guests’ dogs and cats. Pets can receive massages, pedicures, chef-prepared gourmet meals, and outings to local parks, beaches, and lakes.
  • For the product or service you chose, prepare a Target Market Report that includes the following information:
  • Identify the customer need(s) that the product/service addresses. This should include who the product/service is designed for, the unique features of the product/service, and who would you want your customers to be.
  • Separate the large market you identified into smaller segments. After creating these smaller subgroups, determine which ones you believe would be the most profitable or productive to target.
  • Create a profile of your target segments as described in your text.
  • Now that you have identified a market segment to target, is it large enough to sustain the product/service in both the long and short term? You may want to look at demographic information from your state or federal databases, such as www.census.gov .

Your submission must follow the written assignment guidelines for the course.

SENIOR YEAR. When an assignment given by a favorite teacher instructs a group of students to argue for the Final Solution, a euphemism used to describe the Nazi plan for the genocide of the Jewish people, Logan March and Cade Crawford are horrified. Their teacher cannot seriously expect anyone to complete an assignment that fuels intolerance and discrimination. Logan and Cade decide they must take a stand.

As the school administration addresses the teens’ refusal to participate in the appalling debate, the student body, their parents, and the larger community are forced to face the issue as well. The situation explodes, and acrimony and anger result. What does it take for tolerance, justice, and love to prevail?

Based on a true incident.

In many real-world applications of multi-agent systems, teams of agents must assign targets among themselves and plan paths to the targets. The agents must avoid collisions with each other in a congested environment, yet reach their targets as soon as possible. The resulting coordination problems, which model the target-assignment and path-planning operations of the agents, are fundamental for these multi-agent systems but, at the same time, computationally challenging, as there are often many agents and their operating time is long. This dissertation studies two types of multi-agent coordination problems: (1) One-shot coordination problems that assign given targets to and plan paths for a given set of agents to reach their targets on a given graph that models the environment and (2) long-term coordination problems that repeatedly assign incoming tasks to a given set of agents and plan paths for the agents to the targets of their assigned tasks. This dissertation builds upon the recent successes in tackling a one-shot path-planning problem, called Multi-Agent Path Finding (MAPF), in the artificial intelligence (AI) community as well as theoretical and algorithmic results for other target-assignment and path-planning problems from the theoretical computer science, operations research, AI, and robotics communities. It addresses three central questions when generalizing these results to solving the target-assignment and the path-planning problems jointly: Question 1: How hard is it to jointly assign targets to and plan paths for teams of agents? Question 2: How and how well can one jointly assign targets to and plan paths for teams of agents? Question 3: How do teams of agents execute the computed solutions? We tackle these three central questions by formalizing novel variants of MAPF that model different target-assignment and path-planning problems, studying their theoretical properties, and developing algorithms for them and thus make the following four contributions. First, we introduce a unified NP-hardness proof structure that can be used to derive complexity results for different target-assignment and path-planning problems. Second, we formalize and study Combined Target Assignment and Path Finding (TAPF), which models the one-shot combined target-assignment and path-planning problem and present complete and optimal algorithms for solving it. Third, we formalize and study Multi-Agent Pickup and Delivery (MAPD), which models the long-term combined target-assignment and path-planning problem and present MAPD algorithms that provide a guarantee on their long-term robustness, namely, allow agents to finish all tasks without deadlocks. Fourth, we demonstrate how our MAPD algorithms can take some of the kinodynamic constraints of real-world agents into account to compute plan-execution schedules, which showcases the benefits of our algorithms for real-world applications of multi-agent systems.

House Of The Dragon Season 2 Breaks Game Of Thrones Tradition With One Change (& I Love It)

I can't believe how house of the dragon changed that scene after 6 years of hype, why helaena made that decision in house of the dragon season 2, episode 1.

MAJOR SPOILERS for House of the Dragon season 2, episode 1!

  • House of the Dragon makes significant changes to key events from the Fire & Blood book series.
  • Helaena's visions and decision-making process lead to the unfolding of the "Blood and Cheese" event in the series.
  • The show alters character dynamics, such as Alicent's absence during the event and Daemon's direct involvement.

The House of the Dragon season 2 premiere showcased a pivotal event referred to as "Blood and Cheese," and it differs significantly from how it unfolded in the book . House of the Dragon is based on the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, which documents the fictional history of House Targaryen . It's written like a real-world historical text, meaning it doesn't follow a novel format and instead takes a zoomed-out look at events surrounding the Targaryen dynasty, leaving certain elements up for interpretation. House of the Dragon then shows what could've actually happened.

Because the text leaves certain details vague, House of the Dragon season 2 makes several book changes , such as showing what Aegon II's leadership as king was actually like. In the case of Blood & Cheese, Fire & Blood offers a detailed account of what happened, and the TV adaptation makes changes regardless, many of which were due to other original character arcs they set up. For example, in the book, Helaena doesn't see visions in her dreams, and Alicent and Criston Cole don't have a romantic relationship recorded.

9 Helaena Envisions Jaehaerys Being Killed By "Rats"

Helaena's visions foreshadow blood & cheese.

Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) embroidering in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 1

A scene early in the House of the Dragon season 2 premiere has several fascinating details that could be easy to miss. In it, Helaena Targaryen expresses concern to Aegon II that she's scared of "rats" rather than dragons . Season 1 saw her have multiple prophetic dreams, but her words here are still passed off as weirdness and are disregarded. This scene is entirely original to the show, foreshadowing the horrific events to come later in the episode and laying the foundation for how Helaena reacts to Blood & Cheese.

she's seen knitting a veil in this scene, which she's shown wearing at a funeral in the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer

Immediately after Helaena says, "Not the dragons... the rats," her eyes shift over to Jaehaerys' crib , where her son is butchered later in the episode. Also, she's seen knitting a veil in this scene, which she's shown wearing at a funeral in the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer, implying that it's the one she'd wear for her son's funeral. The detail here is incredible and really speaks to the power of Helaena's subconsciousness, offering a fascinating mystical element to House of the Dragon's world.

8 Rhaenyra Demands Vengeance For Lucerys

Rhaenyra's words initiate the blood & cheese event despite her intentions.

Rhaenyra spends much of the House of the Dragon season 2 premiere searching for Lucerys' body to mourn after her death. She takes her time to grieve, deciding the best course of action going forward. In the latter half of the episode, Rhaenyra returns to Dragonstone and says, "I want Aemond Targaryen." This initiates the chain of events for Blood & Cheese, which is notably different than the version in the book, where Rhaenyra essentially has nothing to do with it, and her feelings in the aftermath of Lucerys' death aren't explained.

In Fire & Blood , Daemon Targaryen has already captured the castle of Harrenhal before Aemond kills Lucerys. Rhaenyra receives a letter from Daemon that simply states, "A son for a son," and he handles the operation through his connections. Rhaenyra can't be blamed for the butchering of a child, as she still had nothing to do with organizing assassins. She could have envisioned luring a trap for Aemond and Vhagar where they could fight him on dragonback, but Daemon took matters into his own hands.

7 Aemond Is Blood & Cheese's Intended Target

Aemond isn't the target in fire & blood.

Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond in House of the Dragon season 1

The idea of Aemond Targaryen being the intended target for Blood & Cheese makes some sense. While "A son for a son" could imply Rhaenyra and Aegon both losing a son, House of the Dragon's framing makes more sense if it's Alicent's son instead. While Rhaenyra and Aegon are the two potential successors, House of the Dragon hones in on the dichotomy between Rhaenyra and Alicent, so there's thematic potential in Alicent's son being the target. Not to mention, Aemond is directly responsible for killing Lucerys and is a far bigger threat than little Jaehaerys.

The only flaw to Aemond being the target is that he's a much bigger threat for two assassins to kill. Aemond is a trained fighter who could likely combat Blood & Cheese if he was armed. Daemon specifies that he's "good in a fight," and Blood & Cheese would have an advantage if they were to get the jump on him while he's unarmed at night in a small corridor, but other circumstances could see Aemond easily cutting them both down. There's no reason to expect that Cheese, in particular, would have any skill fighting against a trained swordsman.

Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon and Daenarys in Game of Thrones

House of the Dragon season 2 breaks a Game of Thrones tradition, and I believe it helps emblemize the prequel show's distinct identity.

6 Mysaria Didn't Operate Blood & Cheese

Mysaria is way more complicit in fire & blood.

Mysaria is different in House of the Dragon season 2 , with changes made to her character to make her more sympathetic. Her story picks up after the events in season 1, episode 9, where she makes a transaction with Otto Hightower to help the Greens find Aegon for his coronation. Mysaria has escaped King's Landing after her establishment was burned down, and Daemon blames her for planting Aegon on the throne . After Rhaenyra declares she wants Aemond, he goes to her for information.

In House of the Dragon , she only gives Daemon information about Cheese because she has to in order to live.

In Fire & Blood , Mysaria is still operating in King's Landing, and she contracts Blood & Cheese on Daemon's behalf , resulting in much of the blame for the incident being placed on her. The show instead depicts Mysaria as a lowborn woman doing what she can to survive in King's Landing's harsh political climate. In House of the Dragon , she only gives Daemon information about Cheese because she has to in order to live.

5 Daemon Went To King's Landing Himself

In the book, daemon is already at harrenhal.

As previously mentioned, Daemon Targaryen is already at Dragonstone when Blood & Cheese happens in the book , so he's too preoccupied to be directly involved. This ties in with his use of Mysaria's connection to enact the assassination. In the TV series, Daemon puts on his inconspicuous hood and travels to King's Landing himself, meeting with Blood & Cheese and distributing their payment.

Daemon wants blood, and he's willing to get his hands dirty.

This is a massive risk for Daemon, as he's relying on the information that members of the City Watch won't favor the Hightowers and that he can use Blood to escort him through the city. It's played out in a way that's a bit convenient for the storytelling, but it's reinforced by parts of season 1 that show how in touch Daemon is with the low-born parts of King's Landing. This is a world he knows how to navigate, and he's never been one to shy away from a risk. Daemon wants blood, and he's willing to get his hands dirty.

Close-ups of Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon and Matt Smith as Daemon in House of the Dragon season 2

House of the Dragon season 2, episode 1 has a very significant scene from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, but the show's version is disappointing.

4 Blood Is A Gold Cloak, Not A Butcher

Blood's occupation is different in the book (sort of).

Cheese (Mark Stobbart) and Blood (Sam C. Wilson) secretly enter the Red Keep castle in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 1

In House of the Dragon's season 2 premiere, Blood is introduced at a gate in King's Landing, letting Daemon into the city . He's shown to be a member of the City Watch, also known as the Gold Cloaks, with whom Daemon has had a relationship since season 1 when he was their Lord Commander. Daemon previously utilized the City Watch to brutalize criminals, and his violent tendencies seem to carry some weight, as Blood still recognizes him and refers to him as "Commander" roughly two decades later.

It works to Daemon's convenience that Blood is a Gold Cloak, as he's able to be escorted through the city safely. In Fire & Blood , Blood was a sergeant in the City Watch, but he was removed from the organization for murdering a prostitute . He then became a butcher, hence his name being "Blood" and the rat catcher's name being "Cheese."

3 Maelor Targaryen Doesn't Exist

House of the dragon leaves out one of helaena's sons.

The dynamic surrounding Blood & Cheese killing one of Helaena and Aegon's children is changed drastically by the fact that one child has been completely omitted from the show. In the book, they have another son named Maelor. When Helaena is told to choose in Fire & Blood , she selects baby Maelor because he'd be too young to know what's happening and would therefore suffer the least.

This would've added complication to the scene in the TV show, as House of the Dragon changed the conflict to see Blood & Cheese unsure of who the male baby was. In the series, their goal changes to killing the king's heir, and Maelor not existing makes this easier for them to figure out. It's also a harsher blow to the Greens, as Aegon no longer has an heir outside Aemond.

Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen in House of the Dragon season 2 with a green background

Helaena Targaryen is forced to make an impossible decision in House of the Dragon season 2, episode 1 – here's why she went with that choice.

2 Blood & Cheese's Dynamic With Helaena Is Different

Helaena chooses maelor in fire & blood.

In the TV series, Helaena is held with a knife at her throat by Cheese, and the pair of assassins demand that she give up the male heir. She tries to offer up her necklace instead, but they take it anyway and still demand that she point out who her male son is. She points to Jaehaerys, and while Blood thinks she's lying, Cheese can tell Helaena is telling the truth. In Fire & Blood , the circumstances are almost entirely different. First, Helaena offers herself to Blood & Cheese instead of her children in the book.

They end up killing Jaehaerys anyway.

They decline, and Helaena is forced to choose between her two sons, so she chooses Maelor. They end up killing Jaehaerys anyway. In the process, Blood & Cheese also threaten to rape Jaehaera if she doesn't decide fast enough , whereas they aren't quite as threatening in the TV show. The series rids Helaena of some of her agency in this scene, as it seems that she identifies Jaehaerys for them because she knows he's going to die from her visions. She then escapes with Jaehaera without her or the girl seeming to be at risk.

1 Alicent Wasn't Present For Blood & Cheese

Alicent isn't with criston in the book.

Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) shocked after hearing the news of the murder of her grandson, the heir to the throne in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 1

Alicent Hightower's romantic relationship with Criston Cole is an idea that's original to the series, causing her to miss out on the Blood & Cheese action. In Fire & Blood , Helaena and her children are in Alicent's chambers when the event occurs , and Alicent is tied up and gagged, forced to watch the whole thing. Blood & Cheese specifically chose this room because they knew Helaena's children visited with their grandmother on a nightly basis.

This massive shift tones down how dark and traumatic the situation is , with Alicent not being forced to watch it unfold. Helaena then rushes into Alicent's bedroom after Blood & Cheese have killed Jaehaerys, walking in on her and Criston. House of the Dragon's interpretation sees many changes to Blood & Cheese that arguably make it a less gruesome event, as the book version likely would've been the most devastating event depicted in either the prequel or Game of Thrones .

Taking place about 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones , House of the Dragon tells the tale of the rise of the Targaryens, the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria. The popular HBO spinoff show first starred Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower before they were replaced by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, who play the older versions of the characters. Also starring in the series is Matt Smith (Prince Daemon Targaryen) and Paddy Considine as Rhaenyra’s father, King Viserys Targaryen.

Updated COVID-19 Vaccines for Use in the United States Beginning in Fall 2024

Fda updates advice to manufacturers of covid-19 vaccines (2024-2025 formula): if feasible use kp.2 strain of jn.1-lineage.

FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) met on June 5, 2024, to discuss and make recommendations on the selection of the 2024-2025 Formula for COVID-19 vaccines for use in the United States beginning in the fall of 2024.

The committee unanimously voted to recommend a monovalent JN.1-lineage vaccine composition. Following the vote, the committee discussed considerations for the selection of a specific JN.1 lineage SARS-CoV-2 strain (e.g., JN.1 or KP.2) and expressed a strong preference for JN.1.

During this meeting, the advisory committee was informed of the manufacturing timelines, and they reviewed the available data. These data included information on the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 virus variants, current vaccine effectiveness, human immunogenicity data of current vaccines against recently circulating virus variants, the antigenic characterization of circulating virus variants, animal immunogenicity data on new candidate vaccines expressing or containing updated spike components, and preliminary human immunogenicity data on JN.1 candidate vaccines.

Based on the totality of the evidence, on June 6, 2024, FDA initially advised the manufacturers of the licensed and authorized COVID-19 vaccines that the COVID-19 vaccines (2024-2025 Formula) for use in the United States beginning in fall 2024 should be monovalent JN.1 vaccines.

FDA has continued to monitor the circulating strains of SARS-CoV-2.  Based on the most current available data, along with the recent rise in cases of COVID-19 in areas of the country, the agency has further determined that the preferred JN.1-lineage for the COVID-19 vaccines (2024-2025 Formula) is the KP.2 strain, if feasible.  This change is intended to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccines (2024-2025 Formula) more closely match circulating SARS-CoV-2 strains.  FDA has communicated this change to the manufacturers of the licensed and authorized COVID-19 vaccines.  The agency does not anticipate that a change to KP.2 will delay the availability of the vaccines for the United States.

FDA will continue to monitor the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines and the evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
