Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (1920-1975) is the architect of independent Bangladesh. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in the village of Tungipara under the then Gopalganj Subdivision (now District) of the then Faridpur District on March 17, 1920. His father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and his mother Sheikh Sayera Khatun had four daughters and two sons. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was their third child. His parents used to adoringly call him “Khoka”. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a founding member of the East Pakistan Muslim Students League (est. 1948), one of the founding joint secretaries of the East Pakistan Awami Muslim League (est. 1949), general secretary of the awami league (1953-1966), president of the Awami League (1966-1974), president of Bangladesh (in absentia from 26 March 1971 to 11 January 1972), prime minister of Bangladesh (1972-24 January1975), president of Bangladesh (25 January 1975-15 August 1975). As an activist he had been a supporter of the Suhrawardhy-Hashim faction of the Muslim League. During the 1946 general elections, the Muslim League selected him for electioneering in Faridpur district. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was one of the principal organisers behind the formation of the East Pakistan Muslim Students League (est. 1948).  Sheikh Mujib’s active political career began with his election to one of the posts of joint secretaries of the East Pakistan Awami Muslim League (1949). As a political prisoner, he was then interned in Faridpur jail. In 1953, Sheikh Mujib was elected general secretary of the East Pakistan Awami Muslim League, a post that he held until 1966 when he became president of the party. Like his political mentor Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, Mujib also underscored the importance of party organisation and management. To organise the party, he resigned from the Cabinet of Ataur Rahman Khan (1956-58) and devoted himself to the task of taking the party to grassroots level.  Sheikh Mujibur Rahman entered parliamentary politics first in 1954 through his election as a member of the East Bengal Legislative Assembly on the United Front ticket. He was also a member of the Pakistan Second Constituent Assembly-cum-Legislature (1955-1958). He reorganised the Awami League and put it on a firm foundation. In 1966, he announced his famous six-point programme, calling it ‘Our [Bengalis’] Charter of Survival’, which aimed at self-rule for East Pakistan. Disturbed by the  political views of Sheikh Mujib, the Ayub regime put him behind bars. A sedition case, known as Agartala Conspiracy Case, was brought against him.  During this time, on 7 March Mujib made a historic address at a mammoth gathering at the Race Course which marked a turning point in the history of the Bengali nation. At mid-night of 25 March 1971, the Pakistan army launched its brutal crackdown in Dhaka. Sheikh Mujib was arrested and kept confined at Dhaka Cantonment until he was lifted to West Pakistan for facing trial for sedition and inciting insurrection.

Although during the War of Liberation begun in the wake of the 25 March army crackdown Bangabandhu had been a prisoner in the hands of Pakistan, he was made, in absentia, the President of the provisional government, called the Mujibnagar Government, formed on 10 April 1971 by the people’s representatives to head the Liberation War. He was also made the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman headed the first government of the post-liberation Bangladesh for a period of three years and a half. Starting from scratch his government had to deal with the countless problems of a war ravaged country. Restoring law and order, rehabilating the  mukhtijodhas , restoring the ruptured communication system,  and, most importantly, feeding the hungry millions and many other problems bedeviled his administration. Because of his charismatic leadership Bangladesh gained recognition from the international community including the United Nations.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated by a group of disgruntled army officials on August 15, 1975 along with most of his family members excepting for his two daughters who had been staying abroad at that time. Bangabandhu’s eldest daughter, Sheikh Hasina, is the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

প্রণীত এবং সর্বজন স্বীকৃত তাকে অর্থ বলে। মূলত বাস্তব পৃথিবীতে প্রতিটি মানুষের বিভিন্ন পন্য দরকার। কিন্তু একজন ব্যক্তি সকল পণ্য উৎপাদন করতে পারেন না। এই অবস্থায় দুজন দুজনের পণ্য চাহিদা মোতাবেক বিনিময় করাকে লেনদেন বলা হয়। সুপ্রাচীন কালে এটি বিনিময়ের মাধ্যম ছিল। বিনিময় যোগ্য একটি মাধ্যমের প্রয়োজন দেখা দেয় যা যেকোন সময় যেকোন ব্যক্তি গ্রহন করতে পারে। এই ব্যবস্থাকে অর্থ ব্যবস্থা বলে। বর্তমানে ধাতব কয়েন সহ কাগজের নোট মুদ্রা ব্যবস্থায় ব্যবহার হয়। আমাদের দেশে এটি টাকা নামে পরিচিত। অর্থাৎ টাকার বিনিময়ে যেকোন পণ্য বা সেবা ক্রয় করা যায়। কিন্তু বর্তমান যুগে কোন পণ্য উৎপাদনের জন্য উৎপাদনকারী ব্যক্তিকে কাচামাল, শ্রম, যন্ত্রপাতী ইত্যাদি ক্রয়ের জন্য মূলধন বা টাকার প্রয়োজন হয়। যখন কোন সমবায় সংগঠন একত্রে প্রয়োজনীয় অর্থ পণ্য উৎপাদনের জন্য নির্ধারন ও প্রদান করেন তাকে ব্যবসায় অর্থায়ন বলা হয়ে থাকে।

অর্থায়ন সাধারণ তহবিল ব্যবস্থাপনা নিয়ে কাজ করে থাকে। কোন উৎস থেকে কিভাবে অর্থ বা তহবিল সংগ্রহ করা যায়। কি পরিমান সংগ্রহ করাবে। কিভাবে ব্যবসায়ে ব্যয় করলে সার্বিক সর্বোচ্চ মুনাফা অর্জন করা যায় সেই সংক্রান্ত পরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়ন করাকে অর্থায়ন বলা হয়ে থাকে। যেমন কেউ যদি মাছ চাষ করতে চাই তাহলে তার প্রয়োজন হবে মাছের পোনা কেনা, পানি সরবরাহ বা মটর বসিয়ে বিদ্যুৎ খরচ করে পানি উত্তোলন করা, মাছের লালন পালন, খাবার প্রয়োগ, সার প্রয়োগ ইত্যাদি কাজে একাধিক শ্রমিক নিয়োগ। করতে হবে। আর এসব কাজে অর্থ প্রয়োজন। কিন্তু কোন কাজে কত অর্থ ব্যয় করলে মাছ বিক্রির থেকে সবচেয়ে বেশি লাভ করা যায় তা চিহ্নিত করেই মূলত টাকা খরচ করতে হয়। আর এই বিষয়কে বলা হয়ে থাকে অর্থায়ন। কিন্তু যখন কলকারখানাতে এক সাথে বহু প্রোডাক্ট উৎপাদনের ব্যবস্থা করা হয় তখন তাকে কোম্পানি বলে। কোম্পানির হিসাব মাছ চাষের মত সহজ সরল নয়। এখানে অনেক বড় বিষয়, বিভিন্ন জিনিস পত্রের বিষয়, সরকারী ট্যাক্স, কাচামালের উৎস ও সরবরাহ, বৈদেশিক ইম্পোর্ট এক্সপোর্ট ইত্যাদি বিষয় জড়িত থাকে। কাজেই এসব ক্ষেত্রে বহুজাতিক তহবিল সংগ্রহ, শেয়ার ইত্যাদি পরিচালনার জন্য চাই অতি দক্ষ অর্থ ম্যানেজমেন্ট ব্যবস্থা। যা অর্থায়ন বিভাগ করে থাকে। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে অর্থায়নের ফলে সেখানকার দ্রুত উন্নতি সারা বিশ্বেই অর্থায়নের বিবর্তন ধারা হিসাবে পরিচয় লাভ করে।

ক) ১৯৩০ এর পূর্ববর্তী দশকঃ ১৯৩০ এর পূর্ববর্তী সময়কালে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে কোম্পানিগুলোর মধ্যে একত্রীকরণের প্রবণতা শুরু হয়। আর্থিক বিবরণী বিশ্লেষণ করে কোন প্রতিষ্ঠানের সাথে কোন প্রতিষ্ঠান একত্রিত হওয়া উচিত তার রুপরেখা বাস্তবায়নে আর্থিক ব্যবস্থাপকদের দায়িত্ব পালন করতে হয়। এর ফলে তারা একই উৎপাদন পণ্যের জন্য সম্মিলিত বিশাল অংকের অর্থায়ন ও আআর্থিক বিবরণী তোইরিতে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন।

খ) ১৯৩০ এর দশকঃ এই একত্রীকরণ প্রবণতা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রেখুব বেশি সফলতা পায়নি। আগের দশকে একীভূত অনেক প্রতিষ্ঠানই পরের দশকে মুনাফা করতে না পেরে দেউলিয়া হয়ে যায়।  এবং ৩০ এর দশকে যুক্তরাষত্রে ব্যপক মন্দা দেখা দেয়। এতে অনেক লাভজনক প্রতিষ্ঠানও ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন হয়। এই অবস্থায় কোম্পানিগুলোকে দেউলিয়া থেকে রক্ষার জন্য আর্থিক ব্যবস্থাপক বিশেষ দায়িত্ব পালন করে এবং কোম্পানি শেয়ার বিক্রির মাধ্যমে  অর্থায়নের প্রয়োজন দেখা দেয়।

গ) ১৯৪০ এর দশকঃ এই দশকে ব্যবসা পরিকল্পিতভাবে ব্যবসা পরিচালনার জন্য তারল্যের প্রয়োজনীয়তা বিশেষভাবে উপলব্ধি হয়। নগদ অর্থপ্রবাহের বাজেট করে সুপরিকল্পিত নগদপ্রবাহের মাধ্যমে অর্থায়ন সেই দায়িত্ব পালন করে।

ঘ)১৯৫০ এর দশকঃ এই দশকে আগের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি পরিবর্তন করে সর্বোচ্চ মিনাফা লাভের জন্য বিনিয়োগ প্রকল্প মূল্যায়ন ও গাণিতিক বিশ্লেষণ কাজে নিয়োজিত হয়। সুদূরপ্রসারী প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে উপযুক্ত ও দীর্ঘমেয়াদী বিনিয়োগ বৃদ্ধি ও ব্যয় হ্রাস করে মুনাফা সর্বোচ্চকরণ করাই তখন অর্থায়নের প্রধান কাজে পরিণত হয়। এই ধারাকে অর্থায়নের সনাতন ধারা হিসাবে গণ্য করা হয়।

ঙ) ১৯৬০ এর দশকঃ এই দশক থেকেই মূলত আধুনিক অর্থায়নের যাত্রা শুরু হয়। অর্থায়ন, মূলধন, বাজারকে অগ্রাধিকার দিতে শুরু করে। শেয়ারহোল্ডাররা প্রতিষ্ঠানের মালিক ফলে শেয়ার হোল্ডারদের সম্পদ শেয়ারের বাজারদর সর্বাধিকরণই ছিল এই সময়ের অর্থায়নের উদ্দেশ্য। এর ফলে আর্থিক নানা বিশ্লেষণমূলক কাজ শুরু হয়। অর্থায়নে ঝুকির ধারণা বুঝিয়ে দেয় যে মুনাফা বৃদ্ধির সাথে সাথে ঝুকিও বৃদ্ধি পায়। কাজেই মুনাফা বৃদ্ধি সর্বদা কাঙ্খিত নাও হতে পারে।

চ) ১৯৭০ এর দশকঃ এই দশক কম্পিউটারের যাত্রা শুরু করে, ১৯৭১ সালে মাইক্রোপ্রসেসর আবিষ্কারের ফলে হিসাব নিকাশ, বিশ্লেষণ, সির্ধান্ত গ্রহণে ব্যপক পরিবর্তন আসে যা শুধু উৎপাদন কৌশল নয়, ব্যবসায় অর্থায়নকেও পরিবর্তন করে দেয়। অর্থায়ন হয়ে ওঠে অংক নির্ভর।  বেশির ভাগ আর্থিক সির্ধান্ত জটিল অংক নির্ভর ও পূঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ ভাবে সম্পাদন করার প্রবনতা জনপ্রিয়তা পায় এবং ঝুকির ধারণা সঠিকভাবে পরিমাপ ও ব্যবস্থাপনা করা হয়। এই সময়ে যেসব তাত্ত্বিক ব্যবসায় অর্থায়নকে নানা তত্ত্বের বিশ্লেষণে সমৃদ্ধ করেছিলেন তাদের মধ্যে হ্যারি, মার্কোইজ, মার্টন মিলার, মডিগ্লিয়ানি উল্লেখযোগ্য ছিলেন। পরবর্তীতে ১৯৯০ এর দশকে এসব তাত্ত্বিকগণ তাদের বিশ্লেষণমূখী অর্থায়নের অবদানের জন্য নোবেল পুরস্কার পান।

ছ) ১৯৮০ এর দশকঃ ব্যবসা বৃদ্ধি বিন্যাস প প্রতিযোগীতামূলক বাজারব্যবস্থায় টিকে থাক্র জন্য অর্থায়ন আগের সনাতনী দায়িত্বের পরিবর্তন করে নতুন রুপে আবির্ভূত হয়। এ সময় মূলধনের সুদক্ষ বন্টন ব্যবস্থা, অর্জিত আয়ের বিচার বিশ্লেষন অর্থায়নের মূল বিষয় হয়।

জ) ১৯৯০ এর দশক বা আধুনিক অর্থায়নের সুচনাঃ এই দশকে ইন্টারনেটের প্রসারণের জন্য বিশ্বায়ন শুরু হয়। ফলে বিশ্বব্যাপী অর্থপ্রবাহের  শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষার জন্য আর্থিক বিশেষ প্রতিষ্ঠান দরকার হয়ে পড়ে। ফলে সৃষ্টি হয় বিশ্ব বাণিজ্য সংস্থা বা World Trade Organization. এই প্রতিষ্ঠান আমদানী রপ্তানী প্রতিবন্ধকতা হ্রাস করে অর্থায়ন আন্তর্জাতিক রুপ দানে ভূমিকা পালন করে । এতে এক দিকে বিনিয়োগ সির্ধান্ত পৃথিবীর কোথায়, কোন পণ্য প্রস্তুত চাহিদা ও বিক্রয় করা লাভজনক সেটা বিবেচনা করে। আরেক দিকে বিশ্বের কোন্মূলধনি বাজার কি প্রকৃতির ও কোথা থেকে তহবিল সংগ্রহ লাভজনক, শ্রম ও কার্যকরী প্রযুক্তি কিন্তু সস্তাউ পাওয়া যাবে ইত্যাদি বিষয় অর্থায়নের বিষবস্তুতে পরিণত হয়। ফলে অর্থায়ন হল ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানের ব্যবস্থাপনায় একটি প্রয়োগিক সমাধানের ক্ষেত্র যা হিসাবরক্ষণ অর্থনীতি ও অন্যন্য আর্থিক বিষয়গুলোর সংমিশ্রণ সৃষ্টি করেছে।

উপসংহারঃ উপরিউক্ত ক্রমোবিকাশ থেকে দেখা যায় যে, আজকের ব্যবসায়িক নীতি নির্ধারন, স্থান, বাজার ইত্যাদি সবকিছু কম্পিউটার ভিক্তিক হয়েছে। তাই ব্যবসায়ে অর্থায়নও এখন কম্পিউটারে বিভিন্ন তথ্য উপাত্ত বিশ্লেষন করে ঝুকির সম্ভাব্য পরিমান নির্ণয় ও ক্ষেত্র ইত্যাদি নিরপন করার মাধ্যমে মুনাফা বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে তথা ব্যবসায়ে সফলতা এসেছে। কিন্তু একই সাথে বিশ্বায়নের ফলে ব্যবসা, ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান এখন বিশ্বের এক প্রান্ত থেকে অপর প্রান্ত ছড়িয়ে পড়ায় সবকিছু ব্যবস্থাপনার জন্য আরও কম্পিউটার ও তথ্য প্রযুক্তি, সুদক্ষ অর্থবিভাগ ইত্যাদি অর্থায়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভুমিকা পালনের উপর বর্তমান ব্যবসায়ে মুনাফা নির্ভর করে। তাই অর্থায়নের নিখুত হিসাব ও ব্যবস্থাপনা আরও বেশি চাহিদায় পরিণত হয়েছে। এর গুরুত্ব অপরিসীম। অর্থায়ন ছাড়া তাই ব্যবসা পরিচালনা কল্পনা করা যায়না।

নাগরিকত্ব বা  নাগরিকতা হল কোনো সার্বভৌম রাষ্ট্র বা জাতির একজন আইনস্বীকৃত সদস্য হিসেবে পাওয়া কোনো ব্যক্তির পদমর্যাদা। এক কথায় নাগরিকতা বলতে বুঝায় একটি রাষ্ট্রের সদস্য হিসেবে নাগরিকের মর্যাদা। আর নাগরিক হল রাষ্ট্রের. অধিবাসী যিনি সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক অধিকার ভােগ করেন। একজন ব্যক্তির একাধিক নাগরিকত্ব থাকতে পারে। যদি কোনো ব্যক্তির কোনো দেশেরই নাগরিকত্ব না থাকে তবে তাকে রাষ্ট্রহীন বলা যায়। যখন কেউ রাষ্টের সীমানায় অবস্থান করে এবং তার নাগরিকত্ব সম্পর্কে কোনো স্পষ্ট ধারণা পাওয়া যায় না তখন তাকে বলা হয় বর্ডার-ল্যান্ডার। প্রত্যেক দেশেরই নিজস্ব নীতি, বিধান এবং মানদন্ড রয়েছে যার মাধ্যমে একজন ব্যক্তিকে নাগরিক হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করা যায়। যেসব মানদন্ডে নাগরিকতা অর্জন করা যায় তা হলোঃ

১. জন্মসুত্রে

২. একটি দেশে জন্মগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে

৩. বিবাহসূত্রে

৪. রাষ্ট্র প্রদত্ত নাগরিকত্ব

৫. বিনিয়োগের মাধ্যমে নাগরিকত্ব বা অর্থনৈতিক নাগরিকত্ব

৬. শ্রেণী বহির্ভূত

পরিবার হলো মা, বাবা, ভাই, বোন, দাদা, দাদী, চাচা, চাচী, ফুফু অর্থাৎ বাড়ির সকল সদস্যদের নিয়ে একত্রে যেখানে বসবাস করা হয় তাকেই মূলত পরিবার বলে । পরিবারের বিকাশে সন্ধানযোগ্য বংশগত সম্পর্ক সাধারণত জ্ঞাতি সম্পর্কের চেয়ে অগ্রাধিকার পায়। এই শৃঙ্খলার মধ্যে সদস্যরা সমাজের আর্থিক ও সামাজিক উপ- প্রথাগুলি গড়ে তোলে। পিতামাতা ও তাদের সন্তান-সন্ততিদের কেন্দ্র করে হতে পারে, দ্বিতীয়ত একসঙ্গে বসবাসরত আত্মীয়-স্বজন সমবায়ে একটি প্রসারিত পরিবারও হতে পারে। তৃতীয় ধরনের পরিবার হলো একটি বৃহৎ সংসার, যেখানে অন্যান্য আত্মীয় ও ছেলেমেয়েদের সঙ্গে কিংবা তাদের ছাড়া অনাত্মীয়রাও যুক্ত হয়। মানুষের শিক্ষা অর্জনের সবচেয়ে বড় ও প্রথম মাধ্যম হচ্ছে পরিবার।

সমাজ  বলতে মূলত এমন এক ব্যবস্থা বোঝায়, যেখানে একাধিক চরিত্র একত্রে কিছু নিয়ম-কানুন প্রতিষ্ঠা করে একত্রে বসবাসের উপযোগী পরিবেশ গড়ে তোলে। মানুষের ক্ষেত্রে একাধিক ব্যক্তি একত্র হয়ে লিখিত কিংবা অলিখিত নিয়ম-কানুন তৈরি করে; এরকম একত্র বসবাসের অবস্থাকে  সমাজ বলে। সমাজবিজ্ঞানী গিডিংস (Giddings) বলেন , ‘সমাজ বলতে আমরা সেই জনসাধারণকে বুঝি যারা সংঘবদ্ধভাবে কোনাে সাধারণ উদ্দেশ্য সাধনের জন্য মিলিত হয়েছে।  ম্যাকাইভার বলেন , “সমাজ মানুষের বহুবিধ সম্পর্কের এক বিচিত্র রূপ । ” ঐক্য সমাজের প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্য। অভ্যাস , মনােভাব , চাওয়া – পাওয়া ও আদর্শগত ঐক্যের ভিত্তিতে সমাজ গড়ে ওঠে । অন্ন , বস্ত্র , শিক্ষা , চিকিৎসা , নিরাপত্তা , বাসস্থানের নিশ্চয়তা প্রভৃতি সাধারণ উদ্দেশ্য সাধনের জন্য মানুষ সমাজবদ্ধ হয়। সমাজের ভিত্তি হচ্ছে নৈতিক মূল্যবােধ । সমাজ কতকগুলাে নীতিমালা মেনে চলে এবং নীতিগুলাে সমাজকে ধরে রাখে । যেমন – নিষ্ঠা , সততা , সহমর্মিতা , সহযােগিতা প্রভৃতি।

রাষ্ট্র বলতে রাজনৈতিক ভাবে সংগঠিত এবং একটি নির্দিষ্ট ভূখণ্ডে বসবাসকারী জনসমষ্টিকে বোঝায়।

রাষ্ট্রর মৌলিক উপাদান চারটি। যথা:

১। জনসমষ্টি

২। সার্বভৌমত্ব

৪। নির্দিষ্ট ভূখণ্ড

ইতিহাসের অভিজ্ঞতা থেকে এটা সুস্পষ্ট যে, মানুষের বুদ্ধিমত্তার উৎকর্ষের প্রকৃষ্টতম রূপ হচ্ছে রাষ্ট্র, আর বস্ত্তত তা হলো রাজনৈতিক, সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক উৎকর্ষের রূপায়ন। রাষ্ট্রের প্রতি জনগণের যেমন কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব আছে তেমনি জনগণের প্রতি রাষ্ট্রেরও অনেক কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব আছে।

আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থা বলতে বুঝায় যেসব সংস্থা বা সংগঠন সারা বিশ্বের জন্য সাধারণ উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে জনকল্যাণে কাজ করে। আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থাগুলোর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে সংস্থা হলো জাতিসংঘ। জাতিসংঘ  (অপর নাম: রাষ্ট্রসংঘ) বিশ্বের জাতিসমূহের একটি সংগঠন, যার লক্ষ্য হলো আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে আইন, নিরাপত্তা, অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন, সামাজিক অগ্রগতি এবং মানবাধিকার বিষয়ে পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি করা। ১৯৪৫ সালে ৫১টি রাষ্ট্র  জাতিসংঘ  বা রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘ সনদ স্বাক্ষর করার মাধ্যমে  জাতিসংঘ বা রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। যে সব দেশ পূর্বে বৃটিশ উপনিবেশের অন্তর্গত ছিল, সে সকল দেশের জোট হলো কমনওয়েলথ । এরকম আরো আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থাগুলোর নাম হচ্ছে-

ন্যাম (NAM), সার্ক (SAARC), ইসলামী সম্মেলন সংস্থা (OIC), আরব লীগ (League of Arab States), ইউরোপিয়ান ইউনিয়ন (EU), আফ্রিকান ইউনিয়ন (AU), ওপেক (OPEC), G-8, D-8, বিশ্ব বাণিজ্য সংস্থা  (WTO), বিশ্বব্যাংক (World Bank), BIMSTEC, আসিয়ান (ASEAN), জাতিসংঘ পরিবেশবাদী সংস্থা (IPCC), ন্যাটো (NATO), ইন্টারপোল (INTERPOL), রেড ক্রস (Red Cross), অ্যামনেস্টি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল (Amnesty International), ট্রান্সপারেন্সি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল (TI), অরবিস, গ্রিন পিস সহ আরো অনেক।

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

With the Kentucky Derby now in the books, all the attention in horse racing turns to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland for the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes. Dubbed the "People's jewel" of thoroughbred racing, this event typically separates the contenders from the pretenders when it comes to the Triple Crown. Mystik Dan has the chance to make history after winning at Churchill Downs earlier this month and heads into the eight-horse field on Saturday as the favorite.

There will be one notable name absent from the starting gates as Muth was scratched early in the week. The morning-line favorite, trained by Bob Baffert, was pulled from the race after suffering a spike in temperature upon arrival to Pimlico. Now, it could be any one's race to win given the smaller field.

Trainer Ken McPeek remains confident in Mystik Dan ahead of the second straight massive race in just three weeks.

Baffert is no stranger to the winner's circle at Pimlico. National Treasure, another horse trained by the prolific trainer, won the 2023 Preakness Stakes at 4-1 odds. In fact, Baffert has won the Preakness Stakes more than any other trainer in the race's storied history.

Catching Freedom, the fourth-place finisher at the Kentucky Derby is also among the favorites with 7/2 odds. Rounding out the top of the field is Tuscan Gold (9/2), trained by Chad Brown, who has been to the winner's circle at Pimlico twice in his career already.

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
