The King’s MND Care and Research Centre is a multidisciplinary team of clinical and research staff, seeing about 200 new patients a year, providing state of the art care coupled with access to cutting edge research to accelerate the search for a cure.

King’s MND Care and Research Centre

The King’s MND Care and Research Centre is a multidisciplinary team of clinical and research staff, funded by the NHS, government grants and charity grants. We see about 200 new patients a year, with a further 400 follow-up slots in neurology and hundreds more in related services as needed. Our teams include neurology, respiratory, nutritional and palliative medical and allied health professional staff, with clinical trials teams, laboratory researchers and statistical and computing expertise. We provide state-of-the-art care coupled with access to cutting edge research. We aim to accelerate the search for a cure by combining clinical care with clinical research, and collaborate internationally to increase our chances of success.

Clinical trials facilities, king's clinical trials unit.

The UKCRC accredited King's Clinical Trials Unit collaborates on academic led clinical trials, providing expert methodological, operational and IT systems support. The unit primarily supports NIHR funded definitive multicentre trials, but support can be provided in some cases for other study designs and funding bodies.

King's Health Partners Clinical Trials Office - Commercial Team

The Commercial Team at the King's Health Partners Clinical Trails Office (KHP-CTO) provide a streamlined service for commercial sponsors & Investigators wishing to conduct clinical trials within KHP to ensure that there are common, efficient processes for the set-up, approval, administration and financial management of clinical trials.

King's Health Partners Clinical Trials Office - Organisation Sponsored Clinical Trials

The Quality Team at the King's Health Partners Clinical Trails Office (KHP-CTO) manage the Sponsor responsibilities for Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products as defined in UK legislation, for trials (co)sponsored by one or more of the KHP Organisations - (KCL, Guy's & St Thomas', King's College Hospital or South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts').

Oral Clinical Research Unit (OCRU) Clinical Facility

The OCRU Clinical Facility contains two private clinical rooms with dental chairs and associated equipment for clinical studies in dentistry, oral medicine and oral cancers. Use of the facility is costed on a "per participant visit" basis. To access the OCRU Clinical Facility, please send a summary of your study to the Research Portfolio Manager.

Neuroimaging Research Facility

Providing facilities for both basic neuroscience and more applied clinical research studies, incorporating structural, functional, pharmacological MRI techniques. A dedicated team support the development of fMRI paradigms and associated ancillary equipment, and we can provide access to a range of clinical and non-clinical spaces for use during scanning sessions.

Preclinical neuroimaging facility: The BRAIN Centre

Biomarker Research and Imaging for Neuroscience (The BRAIN Centre) is a world leading facility for preclinical in vivo and ex vivo neuro-imaging of experimental animal models of neurological and psychiatric disorders. While the main focus is on magnetic resonance (MR) – structural & functional imaging and spectroscopy, the centre also provides assistance with small animal brain PET scanning as well as variety of post-mortem imaging and in vivo techniques such as microdialysis, electroencephalography, behavioural testing, histology and autoradiography.
