Vodafone Business broadband review: Top marks across the board

  • Barry Collins

vodafone business plans broadband

Top scores in every category make Vodafone our best business broadband award winner

  • Winning scores in every category
  • Wide range of good-value tariffs
  • Biggest full-fibre network in the country
  • Complicated range of tariffs

It’s incredibly rare for a company to sweep every category in an Expert Reviews awards survey, so full marks to Vodafone Business, which claimed victory in each of Best Business Broadband Awards – customer service, value for money, reliability and speed – to emphatically take the overall crown.

While it was close in all four – particularly to the runner-up, BT Business – as far as Expert Reviews readers are concerned, there are few, if any, chinks in Vodafone’s armour.

Customer service turned out to be a particular strength for the company, with 92.5% of the Vodafone customers we surveyed saying they were satisfied with the service, and just over half declaring themselves very satisfied.

A reliable broadband connection is absolutely critical for businesses, so prospective customers will be pleased to learn that more than 9/10 Vodafone customers were happy with the service’s stability. Finally, more than 8/10 Vodafone customers said they would be likely to recommend the company, a resounding endorsement of the service. So, let’s dig deeper into the Vodafone offering.

Compare prices

Vodafone business broadband review: essentials fibre 1, 2, and 100.

The cheapest of Vodafone’s business broadband tariffs starts at just over £20/mth, so it’s easy to see why customers are impressed with the value.

These Essentials packages are largely based on slower fibre-to-the-cabinet connections, although there is a 100Mbits/sec offering for those within reach of a full-fibre network (see “Coverage”, below). Yet, even on these cheapest deals, Vodafone can offer static IP addresses upon request (at an extra £4.17/mth). But it should be noted that you’ll only be offered standard support on the Essentials tier.

Vodafone Business broadband review: Pro Fibre and Full Fibre

The Pro plans not only increase the speeds on offer – to those who are within reach of full-fibre – they bring with them several additional features that businesses may appreciate.

At this grade, Vodafone offers 4G backup, should the fixed-line connection go down. The company can also offer mesh router extenders, to help the Wi-Fi reach remote parts of the home/office, as well as a dedicated technical business support team, which should have shorter queues on the telephone lines than the standard support you get with Essentials deals.

Vodafone Business broadband review: Pro Fibre II

The more expensive Pro Fibre II deals offer all the Pro benefits and better router equipment, along with access to the company’s Ultra Hub with Wi-Fi 6E. While Wi-Fi 7 is starting to creep on to the market, Wi-Fi 6E still gives you the benefit of the 6GHz Wi-Fi band, ideal for transferring files at high speed across your network, or for rock-solid videoconferencing streams.

It’s also worth noting that all of Vodafone’s Essentials, Pro and Pro II tariffs are available on shorter 18-month deals that are little more expensive per month, or longer 36-month deals that are slightly cheaper.

Vodafone Business broadband review: Coverage

Vodafone claims to have the “widest full-fibre footprint in the UK”. That’s because it doesn’t only have wholesale agreements with Openreach – the country’s biggest broadband network – but also with CityFibre, which has full-fibre deployments in many of the UK’s biggest towns and cities. CityFibre, alone, hopes to reach eight million premises.

For those who are still outside of full-fibre areas, Openreach’s fibre-to-the-cabinet coverage now connects 96% of the country’s homes and businesses, so only a slender minority will be outside of Vodafone’s reach.

Obviously, for the 4G backup available on the Pro plans, Vodafone relies on its own mobile network. You can check your 4G coverage here .

Vodafone Business broadband review: Performance and customer satisfaction

As we noted at the top, when it comes to performance and customer satisfaction, Vodafone Business can do little wrong in the eyes of Expert Reviews readers.

That dual partnership with Openreach and CityFibre appears to be paying off, with 91.6% of Vodafone Business customers declaring themselves satisfied with the speeds on offer, and less than 1% unhappy – the best scores of any of the major broadband providers in our survey.

With more than 90% of customers satisfied with their customer service and reliability, you could forgive Vodafone for bumping up its prices, but, in fact, it offers some of the best deals around – its fastest, the Pro II package, is around £15 less a month than Virgin Media’s equivalent, for example – which helps explain why 81.3% of Vodafone customers are satisfied with the value for money.

Vodafone Business broadband review: Verdict

It’s a hugely strong all-round performance for Vodafone Business broadband, with untouchable scores in our survey and a wide range of good-value packages. If you’re in the market for a new business connection, Vodafone should be at the top of your shortlist.

Vodafone Business Broadband Deals

vodafone business plans broadband

Until the 10th May 2024, there’s a 30% saving available on Pro II business broadband . This makes it possible to get Pro II broadband for less than the price of standard business broadband.

The following table shows Vodafone’s latest Pro II business broadband plans:

All of the Pro II business broadband plans come with Vodafone’s Ultra Hub WiFi 6E router, along with automatic 4G back-up and a Super WiFi booster.

It’s also possible to get standard business broadband without the Pro II features. However, you’ll need to pay more for this:

Vodafone Business Broadband Features

Intelligent wifi.

vodafone business plans broadband

According to Vodafone, the Intelligent WiFi feature should give “all your devices the fastest, most-reliable connection”.

Unlimited Data

You’ll get unlimited data included on your Vodafone business broadband service. This means you can download, stream, and video call as much as you like without needing to worry about how much data you’re using.

Vodafone Broadband Router & App

vodafone business plans broadband

Once you’ve set up Vodafone’s business broadband service, you can use the Vodafone Broadband app to manage your broadband connection and Wi-Fi network. For instance, you’ll be able to prioritise certain devices on your network. You’ll also be able to set up a guest Wi-Fi network, allowing you to share your connection with others whilst keeping them separate from your own devices (important for keeping your data safe and secure).

Free Static IP Address

A static IP address can be an important feature if you’re running your own server (such as an FTP, VPN, email or web server). If you have an on-site CCTV system with remote access, it may also be necessary to have a connection with a static IP address.

On Vodafone’s business broadband service, you’ll have a dynamic IP address by default. However, you’ll be able to request a static IP address to be assigned to your connection at no extra cost.

Switching to Vodafone Business Broadband

vodafone business plans broadband

Start by ordering your new business broadband plan online . When you do this, you’ll be given the option to keep your current landline number or you can get a new one from Vodafone.

During the online order process, you’ll be able to choose your broadband activation date (this will typically be around 2-3 weeks after you place your order online).

In most cases, Vodafone will automatically contact your old broadband provider to cancel the old service for you. However, if you’re a Virgin Media customer, you’ll need to contact them separately to cancel your old service.

Vodafone could lose 4 million customers overnight, just days after unveiling broadband speed upgrade

V odafone is braced to lose more than 4 million customers across Germany due to an incoming regulatory change. The London-based business will be hit by the end of bulk TV contracts in apartment blocks.

It expects to lose roughly half of its 8.5 million households when the new law comes into effect in July. The shake-up will force companies to strike individual contracts with tenants, rather than negotiating with the housing association that runs the block. In an early trial, Vodafone said 65% of existing customers chose to move to individual billing with the same broadband and TV deal.

・ View Deal | Check latest TalkTalk full-fibre broadband deals, starting from £28

German households account for around two-fifths of Vodadone's revenue.

Despite the looming shift in Germany, Vodafone has returned to growth across its key markets as it presses on with a turnaround process and waits for a decision from regulators on a potential merger with Three UK.

The telecoms giant said it was making progress on a restructuring plan which has included selling off its underperforming Italian and Spanish businesses and cutting thousands of jobs. Vodafone said service revenue grew 6.3% to £25.7 billion in the year ending March 31.

In its latest earnings call, Chief executive Margherita Della Valle said Vodafone's proposed merger with Three UK remains in “deep conversations” with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) but is "progressing well".

Ms Della Valle said: "The substance of the merger remains the one we have discussed in the past that should be really attractive to all stakeholders, not just our customers but also the broader UK base with more investment in our network that will trigger more investment for everyone."

It comes after the UK Government confirmed it would conditionally approve the merger on national security grounds, leaving the final decision with the CMA. Both Vodafone and Three offer pay monthly phone contracts and home broadband, although the latter uses its 4G and 5G mobile network to power household Wi-Fi too.

Last month, the CMA confirmed it would kickstart a so-called Phase 2 probe into the planned £15 billion mega-merger of UK mobile networks Vodafone and Three after both telecom providers told the regulator they would not be offering measures to ease its concerns ahead of the deadline.

The CMA said last month that the tie-up could have a “substantial” impact on competition, warning it may lead to higher prices and reduced quality. The two mobile firms have argued the deal will allow them to increase investment and better compete with major rivals, EE operator BT and Virgin Media-O2.

The regulator said it found in its initial probe that the two companies are important alternatives for mobile customers and combining these two businesses will reduce rivalry between mobile operators to win new customers.

The watchdog also raised concerns that the deal "may make it difficult" for smaller mobile operators – such as Sky Mobile, Lebara and Lyca Mobile – to negotiate good deals for their own customers, by reducing the number of mobile network operators that can host them.

The slew of announcements from Vodafone come as Vodafone took the wraps off a supercharged new Wi-Fi router, dubbed the Power Hub. The upgraded router will be mailed out to all new customers who sign up for a broadband contract with Vodafone from now on.

The Power Hub comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6 — a more recent wireless standard that unlocks faster speeds and bigger data transfers. Coupled with a full-fibre broadband connection, Wi-Fi 6 should be better equipped to juggle more devices without losing a connection.

Lastly, Wi-Fi 6 supports WPA3 encryption, making it more secure than its predecessor, Wi-Fi 5.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

・ BT will postpone UK landline switch-off until 2027

・ Best VPN deals

・ Microsoft races to fix 61 flaws unearthed in Windows 10

・ Amazon is bringing MORE adverts to Prime Video

According to Vodafone, the advancements afforded by Wi-Fi 6 means its new Power Hub can comfortably support up to 100 devices connected to the same network. For those with dozens of smart home gadgets — from smart thermostats, video doorbells, smart speakers, connected lightbulbs, and other gadgets scattered in every room — that increased upper limit is sure to come in handy.

Vodafone, which boasts more than 1.38 million fixed broadband customers nationwide, describes its Power Hub router as being “built for Full Fibre, giving speeds of up to 910Mbps and is designed to work with the latest tech“.

The arrival of the Vodafone Power Hub puts the broadband supplier comfortably ahead of BT, which still only supports Wi-Fi 5 with its Smart Hub 2 router, which ships as standard with all broadband contracts. As such, customers will be restricted to WPA2 encryption. For those who have recently upgraded to a new MacBook Air or Galaxy S24 smartphone , which both come equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, this will be a frustrating omission.
