Congrats on Your Upcoming Muse Profile!
Here at The Muse, we think company culture is pretty darn important. Yours also happens to be awesome—and we’re so excited to help you show it off. This site will take you through the next steps in creating your profile and provide all the info you’ll need to prepare for your video shoot.
What Is The Muse?
The Muse strives to make work more human by being a trusted resource for millions of people as they seek career satisfaction—not just another job. We partner with companies as they look to attract and retain the best talent by living an authentic and compelling employer story. Our mission is to create meaningful connections between companies and candidates to make the world of work—from the job search to career development—more personal.
Components of a Profile
Employee testimonials:.
The Employee Testimonial video tells the story of one person’s experience within the company. Each employee will be interviewed for 30-45 minutes, and we use the material to create the Employee Testimonial and other video products included in your Profile Package.
Mashup Video:
From a selection of your employee interviewees, we will ask a few additional questions and then use their responses to craft a Mashup Videos. A Mashup Video is a chorus of voices (generally 2-3 employees) that centers around one topic, such as Work/Life Balance.
Feature Video:
The Feature Video is a more dynamic video that incorporates music and B-roll footage in the final edit. This 1-2 minute video showcases a few of your employees speaking to one theme, such as Employee Culture or a Department Spotlight.

Jumping into a new partnership is exciting, but it can also be a little overwhelming. We want to make sure you feel totally comfortable and confident while we get everything set up together.
Prepping for Your Shoot
Can we feature more employees.
If you would like to add additional interviews, please reach out to your Account Manager for pricing.
Who supplies the questions for interviews?
We’ll send over a list of questions you can use for your shoot, but feel free to add your own into the mix. A good guideline is to think of questions that get to the heart of what your company is all about and that showcase your unique culture.
Do we need to know who our interviewees are for the video shoot right away?
Nope! You can decide who you want to feature later on in the process. We always recommend choosing people who have a knack for storytelling, are comfortable in front of the camera, and can genuinely and effortlessly rave about your company and the culture.
Do you provide hair and makeup on the day of our shoot?
As much as we’d love to travel with a glam squad, we don’t provide hair and makeup for office shoots.
Reviewing Your Profile
How long will it take for our profile to go live on the muse is there a timeline for the process from start to finish.
Our estimated full timeline is 6-10 weeks, but responsiveness and quick approvals can make the process move a lot faster. As a general reference: Shoots are scheduled 2-3 weeks from initial sign-up, and profile launch is 4-6 weeks from the shoot date.
Can we change the profile layout at all (i.e., fonts, colors, design, etc.)?
The fonts, colors, and layouts we use are standard across all company profiles on The Muse. We do this because it helps us create a consistent experience for all of our readers as they explore the various companies on our site.
Do we get to choose the content used on the profile?
As our team is building your profile, they’ll choose the photos and videos that will resonate the most with our readers. We will also write the copy based on the information from your video shoot. You will, of course, have final approval of the page because we want you to love it just as much as we do!
What is B-roll??
B-roll is supplemental footage inserted as a cutaway to help tell the story of your company and employees’ experiences. It includes shots to introduce a segment and is used in between the taped interviews. No audio is captured during B-roll scenes, but rather we use interview responses as the voice-over in our Profile Videos.
Can we send you our own photos and videos to use on the profile?
Photos = Yes; Video = No.
We aim for stylistic consistency across The Muse so all of our readers are seeing the same thing as they click around our site.
Your Profile Is Live, What Now?
What happens once we go live.
Your Project Manager will introduce your dedicated Account Manager if it is included as part of your package. Your Account Manager will work with you on your content distribution plan for your profile. If you do not have an Account Manager as part of your partnership, you will be able to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

Terrible Experience.
I've used this service twice - once for resume help and the other for interview prep. The coach I hired for resume help was very unorganized and unresponsive despite the reviews she had. I think the reviews are biased as there was no option to leave review for her after working with her. She repeatedly failed respond to respond to my emails after our initial session. She only responded once I got Muse involved. She blamed it either on her assistant or because she was in the process of moving. The second coach I hired was for interview prep. After I purchased her service on Tuesday, she also failed to respond to set up a time even after I had reached out to Muse for assistance. She also had high reviews. How are these coaches so well reviewed when can can't complete basic tasks like contacting their clients to set up the initial session? They would not refund me for the package I bought with my first coach but they did refund me for my experience with the second coach and they offered a complimentary session, which was appreciated, however, they only offered me a few select choices for the comp session and neither would work for me. Suggestion to the Muse: Let your ALL your customers review your coaches and allow your customers to see the coaches schedule prior to having to purchase a session or package.

TopResume vs The Muse: Who Won?
Crafting a compelling resume is no easy task. A simple laundry list of your past work experiences may have landed you your first entry-level job, but now you're looking to take it to the next step. However, you have no idea where to begin. What content should you include? Which format should you use? Which keywords should you emphasize?
It's questions like these that transform a simple piece of paper into a black hole of self-doubt. It feels more like an exam than a collection of your greatest achievements. But don't worry...There are plenty of ways to take this weight off your shoulders.
In fact, there are more resume writing services than ever. Whether you're looking to make a career switch or trying to advance in your current field, resume writing services are the easiest way to give your CV a much needed boost. But which resume writing service is the best?
Two of our favorite services are TopResume and The Muse. While TopResume is a tried and true option for crafting your unique career story with a series of text-based collaboration, The Muse offers resume review coaching services. To see who comes out on top, we've weighed the similarities and differences to help you make a decision.
Key Similarities
- Both are highly interpersonal with great communication
- Both have a wide network of experts in a range of fields
- Both services optimize your resume for Applicant Tracking Software
- Both offer resume review sessions
- Both services offers edits and rewrites of your resume
Key Differences
- TopResume boasts a network of 1,500+ writers, while The Muse only has a little more than 80 writers
- TopResume offers a resume review and update, while The Muse specializes in resume review coaching that may or may not include an update
- TopResume offers a free rewrite if your resume if you are not receiving twice as many interviews within approximately 20 weeks, while The Muse may offer one or two rounds of edits within a two week time period
- TopResume allows you to work one-on-one with an expert writer via unlimited text, while The Muse only offers video sessions or phone calls that last for 30, 45, or 60 minutes
TopResume Overview
TopResume is the world's leading resume writing service and for good reason. They offer one-on-one support of professional writers across a myriad of industries to help you create a unique resume that tells your story (no templates needed).
All you have to do is submit your resume for an initial review and you will hear back from your expert writer in a day or two. From there, your specialist will work with you to create a compelling resume with an eye-catching aesthetic and relevant content. Resumes are even optimized for ATS, leveraging specific keywords to help you give your resume the most visibility possible.
Writers are sourced across the United States and have substantial experience in Human Resources, Recruiting, Career Coaching, and job search strategy. They even have a 60-day guarantee that you will receive a free re-write of your resume if you are not receiving twice as many interviews.
Prices are also incredibly affordable with three different packages depending on what you're looking for (with the cheapest service starting at only $179). Ranging from Professional Growth to Career Evolution to Executive Priority, each of these services are guaranteed to give your resume a much-need lift, regardless of what your circumstances may be.

The Muse Overview
The Muse is an all-in-one platform for finding your latest job. However, while the convenience of being able to look for a job and then receive advice on your resume is great, The Muse isn't really a resume review service. Sure, they offer a review, but they only do phone or video sessions that last 30, 45, or 60 minutes. They don't rewrite your resume, but rather offer suggestions on how you can improve it yourself.
While the review session is brief, it is still very interpersonal and coaches always contact you within one day of booking. Depending on which service you choose, you may get one, two, or unlimited rounds of edits within a two week time frame. The Muse offers a massive range of services with prices starting at $119 and going up to $1,699.
Final Notes
While The Muse definitely has some interesting value propositions they aren't a comprehensive resume review service like TopResume. With over 5,000 five-star reviews on Trustpilot and over 400,000 professionals served, not only is TopResume the leading resume writing service, it is the best resume writing service.
Besides the fact that TopResume has hundreds of more writers and excellent reviews, the overall value of the service is superior to The Muse in every way. TopResume only offers three different services that are all incredibly affordable, as opposed to the dozens of confusing services offered by The Muse. Each of these services is very competitive with a guaranteed update and re-write. The most expensive program is only $349 compared to The Muse's $1,699 and can even be paid in monthly installments through Affirm.
Why go through all of the stress of re-writing your resume yourself? Do yourself a favor and have TopResume take care of the dirty work. Just sit back, relax, and watch the interviews start pilling in.
Update: Stop stressing over your resume and hand it over to the experts. Get a professionally written resume today!
