Our Book Binding Services

Wire binding.

From A7 booklets to A2 calendars, our fully automated punching and wiro machines can produce 1 to 100,000 copies. Documents can be bound in a wide range of shapes and sizes and printed with a full-colour cover or supplied with a card or acetate overlay that protects the document.

Perfect Binding

Perfect binding is the ideal solution for paperback or soft-cover books as well as magazines. We can offer perfect binding alongside our digital printing service in short runs and a broad range of size and thickness options.

Spiral Binding

Spiral binding, also known as coil binding, uses a plastic wire that coils through a series of holes along one side of the document to be bound. It’s a great choice for notebooks or booklets.

Comb Binding

Comb binding is perhaps one of the best-known forms of binding available. It uses plastic strips, available in a range of colours, with ‘teeth’ that slot into pre-punched holes along one edge of the document. A low-cost binding solution which has the advantage of allowing pages to be removed or added with relative ease. We can produce comb-bound documents in a range of sizes and thickness options.

Thermal Binding

For a professional finish at an affordable price, thermal binding can be a great choice. Documents can be bound in all shapes, sizes and thicknesses, and the finished documents have a book-like feel.

We love print! Whether it’s lecture notes, posters or your dissertation we use the latest digital technology to produce high quality professional print.

Choose from A4 or A3 in size, black and white or colour, matt or gloss finish, single or double sided.

We offer paper in 80gsm to 350gsm in weight so there’s sure to be something to suit your project and you can also choose from our range of binding options.

We now offer a 100% recycled paper option

If you require hard back binding with foil blocking, then please request a quote or contact us directly and we can arrange this for you.

  Simply choose what works for you and send us your work in PDF, JPEG or TIFF format.

Please note: When ordering double-sided printing, please enter the number of sheets of paper you require, not the number of pages in the document. Any VAT will be calculated at checkout.

Collecting your print

Please allow at least 24 hours before collecting your print from our shop, excluding weekends.

Collection times can vary depending on the size of your order; as a typical example, a 100-page bound dissertation will be ready to collect in 24 hours.

We’re open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, or ask about our late collection service.

Complete Book Binding Techniques

Wiro  binding.

Coated metal wires available in black, white & silver, accommodating A4 documents of just a few pages up to a block of print up to approximately 25mm in thickness. Wires can be cut to accommodate smaller documents or A4 short edge, and in some cases can be joined for binding larger A3 or A2 documents and sets of illustrations. We keep a range of types of card and acetate overlays which provide extra rigidity and durability to the bound document.

COMB BINDING

Punched rectangular holes rather than the round holes used in wiro binding, allows binding up to 50mm in thickness. Black or white combs in stock, full range of colours to order. Combs can be reused if adding pages into existing documents. Again we can add acetate overlays and card backings onto comb bound documents

‘STEEL’ THERMAL BINDING

Narrow ‘U’ shaped channel with an acetate overlay on the front and the back of each, does not require holes to be punched in the bound documents. Neater and less bulky than wire or comb binding, will accommodate documents up to approximately 25mm in thickness. Black coated channels in stock, other colours available for long bespoke runs. Suitable only for A4 documents

‘VIP’ THERMAL BINDING

Narrow ‘U’ shaped channel with black, hard back cover & spine – similar to a traditional hard back book. 3mm up to 24mm spine thickness. This process is very suited to quick turnaround dissertation binding. A4 portrait only

HARD BACK CHANNEL BINDING & GOLD BLOCKING

Bound hard back book with embossed lettering on the front and spine if required, with a matt buckram style cloth material cover. Gold lettering can be applied on the front page using a maximum of three lines top & bottom and a maximum of 32 letter characters (including spaces) on each line. As an additional element we can gold block a single line of text on the spine of each book. As all text is set by hand we offer a next day service on this option. The system is a clamp binding type and as such it can be opened up and have replacement pages inserted but there would be a nominal charge for this. Lettering can be metallic gold or silver if required. A4 portrait only

HARD BACK WIRO BINDING

Hybrid option using a hardback cover with the internal pages wiro bound and fixed into the outer cover. This is a good option for design books and we can offer not only A4 portrait/landscape, A3 landscape options. Full colour laminated ‘dust jackets’ available on request.

SADDLE STITCHED (STAPLED) BOOKLETS

To a finished size of A4 portrait. Depending on paper thickness, we can produce booklets up to 48pp (printed pages) by this process.

PERFECT BINDING

Ideal for magazines and paper back/soft cover books. We can now offer digitally printed & perfect bound documents in short runs in a wide variety of sizes and thicknesses. These are ideal for projects and dissertations where creative full colour printing is appropriate.
