While work will likely never go back to our pre-pandemic status quo, the future will be a blended one that leverages the best of what both virtual and face-to-face experiences can offer.  The authors argue that collaboration, innovation, acculturation, and dedication are difficult to replicate virtually and sustain without some face-to-face interaction. But to design in person environments that will be successful in the future, they say, you must create an immersive experience that incorporates elements like purposeful focus, interpersonal bonding, deep learning, unencumbered experimentation, and structured serendipity. While our blended future is still distant, companies will need to start considering what warrants face-to-face interaction and how to make the most of those precious opportunities.

Face to face communication is simply the exchange of information, thoughts and feelings when the participants are physically present. It is the richest means of communication since it is personal, transmits both verbal and non-verbal messages, conveys the emotion behind the message, and provides immediate feedback. Face to face communication requires the physical presence of all the parties. It enables a person (or the audience) to hear and see all the non-verbal messages as conveyed by the sender and respond immediately. So far, face to face communication is the most powerful means of communication, with human interaction, intimacy and immediacy. It has a number of significant benefits, and most researchers believe that there is no perfect replacement for face-to-face communication. This paper discusses the benefits of face to face communication as compared to other means of communication. Face to face communication provides immediate feedback (BCDS 2012). The listener is able to respond immediately or request for further information regarding the message conveyed. It also provides for discussion between the parties which helps in reaching agreements quickly and completing the communication cycle spontaneously. One can directly see and respond to another’s reactions in a face to face communication. The communicator can ask probing questions and listen to the audience’s response. Face to face communication is faster, easier, and more convenient (Ean 2010). It is a direct means of communication (one on one) and the message is direcly conveyed to the audience. There is surerity that the message has reached the intended receiver withiout any delays or alterations. The message is direcly conveyed in a faster, easier, and more convenient manner and the feedback is immediate. There is complete understanding in face to face communication. It uses both verbal and non-verbal signals (the natural body language). This enhances the understanding of the message between the involved parties. The communicator can use facial expressions, tonal variations and other body languages to reinforce the meaning of message. It is also possible to express one’s feelings and emotions through a face to face communication. All these are not possible in other means of communication. Face to face communication is suitable for everyone include the illiterate (those who cannot read and write). There are no special skills required in face to face communication as long as the parties use a common language. It is the best preferred means of communication among those who can neither read nor write. Sensitive issues are effectively addressed via face to face communication. When sensitive issues like conflicts are addressed in a face to face communication, resolutions are easily reached. When people are extremely upset, it becomes almost imposible to cool down the situation via other communication means except face to face communication. People in great emotional distress respond more appropriately to in-person contact than through electronically transmitted messages. Secret information can be transmitted safely and conveniently through face to face communication as long as only the involved parties are physically present. It is completely impossible for a third party to have access or trace the information, unless informed by the involved parties. It doesn’t provide for records that can easily be traced or harked. As compared to other means, face to face communication is most appropriate for meetings. Meetings require participation of all the involved parties, immediate feedback, discussion of the topic, and finding the ways forward. Face to face communication provides the best platform for all these. Members are able to participate in the meeting, exploring the topic, and agreeing on the best opinions. It is also possible to recognize the attitudes of all the members towards the discussed topic. Besides, it’s possible to share knowledge, opinions, ideas, and experiences through face to face communication. When one needs to inspire the people and move them to action, it is better to look them in the eye and tell them what they need to know (Grossman 2012). Face to face communication is the most economical media especially when all the parties are physically present. It doesn’t require the use of any garget to aid in conveying the message. The costs incurred in delivering the message are minimal, if any. It can also be used to address a large number of audiences more cheaply and effectively. Face to face communication also demonstrates importance (Grossman 2012). Being present in person demonstrates to the audience that they are important to the communicator. It also demonstrates the importance of the issue to be discussed. The communicator’s focus increases people’s attention and the potentials for understanding the message. In addition, face to face communication helps in building relationships and enhances credibility and trust. Interacting directly with one another expands one’s network and establishes shared experience which enhances future communication. It allows one to share his/her strategies, explain it clearly, and honestly answer the questions that may arise. Considering all the mentioned benefits, it can be concluded, without any reasonable doubt, that face to face communication is far much better than other means of communication. It is therefore important to communicate with others via face to face if immediate feedback and complete understanding is needed. It is also suitable for sensitive and secret issues, and can be used by everyone, both literate and illiterate. It is the most economical and best appropriate for meetings, especially when all the parties are physically present. Besides, face to face communication demonstrates importance and suitability for relationship building and enhances credibility and trust.

As an effective leader, you know that strong communication skills are essential for managing your team. 

Face-to-face communication is when two or more people can see each other while communicating. It encourages engagement and participation in meetings and builds a company culture of trust .

But since the COVID-19 pandemic, many organizations have shifted to a remote working model at least part of the time . This paradigm shift poses a challenge to leaders who want to maintain face-to-face communication with their teams.

But why is face-to-face communication important for effective leadership ? And is it still relevant in the digital era? If so, how can managers of remote teams continue to leverage its power? Read on to find out.

What is face-to-face communication? 

Face-to-face communication is when two or more people interact and communicate while visible to one another. This might be a physical, in-person conversation, or it could be in a virtual setting.

Face-to-face communication is often more effective than written or audio-only conversations. This is because seeing one another allows us to pick up on nonverbal cues and body language . And because a lot of communication is nonverbal , being able to see each other helps us understand each other better.

Good leaders know that face-to-face communication helps them connect with their team members. 

For example, when you have to have a difficult conversation with an employee, you know it’s best to do it face-to-face.

In the digital age, video conferencing technology allows us to get face time with our colleagues even when we’re not physically in the same room as them. 

Virtual meetings have become the norm since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the way we work . Even as companies return to their offices, many continue to use a hybrid of in-person and remote working. 91% of employees say they want to keep working at least some of the time remotely , so it looks like remote work is here to stay.

Companies now rely heavily on online communication. This makes face-to-face communication more challenging than it used to be. 

But it was thanks to video conference software that the world kept going as we all sheltered in place. Video call became the main form of face-to-face communication for remote workers .

Let’s take a look at the importance of face-to-face communication and how it can help your remote team work together more effectively.

1. It keeps employees in the loop

Remote working has its advantages . For example, you save time and money on commuting, and you get to wear your pajamas during the working day. It also may provide better work life balance . 

But it also has its drawbacks. One of them is that remote team members can feel lonely or left out. This is especially true when part of your team works in the office, and the other part works remotely.

Keep everyone in the loop by maintaining regular face-to-face communication. Try to include different types of meetings, including a mix of one-to-one and team meetings, so that remote colleagues feel included. 

You might even want to consider virtual coffee breaks or other team-building activities . This will help strengthen connections among team members. 

2. It reduces misunderstandings

Being able to see each other’s nonverbal communication cues helps us understand what the other person is saying more easily.

Other communication channels, such as email or audio calls, are less reliable. They’re more likely to lead to miscommunication and lost information. 63% of people have missed important information stuck in an absent colleague’s inbox. 

Face-to-face communication can also help with conflict resolution by reducing misunderstandings.

3. It’s quicker and more efficient

We’ve all experienced a long, annoying email chain that could have been resolved in five minutes with a face-to-face conversation.

Emails are a notorious time waster and not beneficial for productivity . The average employee spends more than 3 hours per day communicating by email for work-related reasons.

Plus, after every distracting ping of an incoming email, it takes 64 seconds to refocus your attention . All of this contributes to a loss of focus and lower productivity.

Well-connected teams are 20–25% more productive than disconnected ones. One of the best ways to foster that connection is through face-to-face communication.

4. It boosts engagement

Face-to-face team meetings are a great way to create a sense of community . They also encourage active engagement and participation in a way that emails and instant messaging can’t.

Fortunately, virtual meetings can be just as effective as in-person ones. In fact, for many teams, virtual meetings were the glue that held them together during the height of the pandemic. They helped people to focus during days that seemed very uncertain.

The success of face-to-face meetings depends on whether the participants feel heard . It turns out that people are 4.6 times more likely to feel empowered when they feel heard. So encouraging your employees to speak up in meetings can help to boost engagement .

5. It builds trust

Trust is a crucial component of any successful team. Face-to-face interaction strengthens interpersonal connections among team members. This helps to establish and build trust . Especially if you're investing in virtual team building , it's important to leverage face-to-face interaction to build trust. 

This is just as true for your clients as it is for your team. A team with a high level of trust works better together and is more productive. Similarly, building relationships with your clients also requires trust.

Face-to-face communication can help build trust through nonverbal cues such as:

  • Eye contact
  • Tone of voice
  • Facial expressions

6. It can make you more persuasive

If you wanted to ask a favor of a colleague, would it be better to do it in person or by phone? Instinctively, you probably think that a face-to-face meeting would be more effective.

And you’re right. It’s much harder to say “no” to someone’s face than it is to hit send on an email. 

So, when you want to use your powers of persuasion to influence your colleagues , it’s best to do it face-to-face.

Not only can you engage them through nonverbal cues, but you can also watch them and assess their reactions. This allows you to see whether your argument is working or if you need to change tactics.

5 disadvantages of face-to-face communication 

So, does face-to-face communication have any disadvantages? Well, it depends on the context and what you’re trying to achieve. 

Let’s explore a few scenarios in which face-to-face communication may not be the best or most efficient option.

1. You’re part of a global remote team

When large numbers of people are involved, instant messaging channels such as Slack or even email can be a more efficient way to communicate. 

This is especially true for teams who work across time zones and set their own schedules, for example, a team of freelancers.

In these cases, written communication allows team members to participate in the discussion when it’s convenient for them. But even in remote teams, there are still opportunities for virtual team building . 

2. You want to schedule an event

If you’re organizing a meeting or event, email is often the most efficient way to communicate. This is because it gives the organizer a written record of attendance. 

Email invitations sync to participants’ calendars. They also contain the information attendees need and can refer to, making them a convenient way to organize events.

3. You only need to check something

Perhaps you’ve forgotten a client’s name or misplaced your meeting notes. When all you need is a quick answer, sometimes the best option is to pick up the phone and call. You also have it written in front of you so you can refer to it later on.

Since it doesn’t require scheduling a meeting, it saves you time. It also means you don’t have to spend time composing an email and waiting for a reply when a 30-second conversation is all it takes.

4. You want to share information with your whole team

If you have to make an important announcement, a company-wide memo may be a better option than a face-to-face meeting.

Some companies create videos or other media to share on their social media platforms. You can also send newsletters or create a blog or LinkedIn Pulse publication.

5. Your team has Zoom fatigue

If virtual meetings have replaced in-person ones within your workplace, it’s important to recognize that employees may have multiple meetings scheduled throughout their day. 

Zoom fatigue is real , so leaders must create a balance between face-to-face communication and other options to help employees stay mentally fit . 

How to improve face-to-face communication when working remotely 

Perhaps you’re wondering how you can improve your remote team’s face-to-face communication. If so, here are five tips you can start implementing right away.

1. Provide communication tools

Not having adequate communication tools can be an obstacle to remote face-to-face communication.

Start by making sure all your team members have access to the same software — whether it’s Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, or another provider.

When choosing a digital communication tool for your team, make sure it has both video chat and other collaboration features such as screen sharing.

2. Schedule regular video calls

If you want your team to take face-to-face communication seriously, make sure they block out time in their schedules for it .

Try to include a variety of opportunities for face-to-face communication, such as:

  • Weekly team meetings
  • Monthly one-on-ones
  • Periodic coffee chats

Find ways to keep your team active and engaged during calls. Encourage active participation, but be aware that not everyone has the same communication style.

For example, some people may communicate better in one-on-one meetings than in group meetings. For this reason, it’s important to create a variety of touchpoints and ways to communicate face-to-face.

3. Host office hours

If you’re a leader, block out some time each week for office hours. Let colleagues know that, since they can’t physically knock on your office door or catch you in the corridor, you’re making this time available for them.

This will make your team members feel supported and help to build their trust in you. Employees are craving trust , social cohesion, and finding purpose in their work . They also want to feel their achievements are recognized . 

Use this time to support colleagues with problem-solving or finding ways to align on expectations or work toward their career aspirations .

4. Prioritize team calls

If you’re a team leader, it’s essential to lead by example . Prioritize your face-to-face meetings with your team by scheduling them in your calendar. Avoid canceling or showing up late. 

Show them through your leadership behaviors that face-to-face communication is important. If you take team meetings as seriously as you take client meetings, your team members will do the same. This will encourage greater team cohesion and better collaboration.

5. Work on your communication skills

Every organization — and every team leader — lives and dies by its communication abilities. If you’re in a leadership role, there’s a good chance you already have decent communication skills , but there’s always room for improvement.

In face-to-face communication, it’s important to pay attention to nonverbal cues. These include:

  • Body movement 

You should notice the nonverbal cues of others while also paying attention to the cues that you may be giving off too.

Giving and receiving feedback

As a leader, an important part of communication is giving your team effective feedback that they can use to be successful. At the same time, you should know how to ask for and receive feedback from your team. 

Model all three of these communication behaviors and encourage your team members to do the same. And remember that leading by example is far more effective than simply giving orders. If you communicate effectively, your team will do the same.

With the advance of our digital age and social media , many forms of social commerce that used to require face-to-face interaction have been augmented, and at times supplanted, by digital means. These days, you need not face your bank teller, travel agent, store clerk, restaurant staff, investment consultant, doctor, or therapist, for that matter, to do business with them. In many ways, this constitutes progress, as digital technologies can make the machinations of work and leisure faster, less taxing, and more efficient. But everything comes at a price. As the prevalence and cache of face-to-face interaction wane, some unique benefits may also be lost.

Social scientists have long been interested in the potential cost we incur by outsourcing our traditional face-to-face ways to digital technology. Two central questions guide much of this research. Do we lose something substantial regarding health and well-being when we turn away from face-to-face communication? And if so, why?

The Covid-19 pandemic has provided social scientists with a unique opportunity to study these questions, as millions of people were forced to replace face-to-face interactions with digital ones, creating what scientists call a “natural experiment.”

A new study (2023) in the journal Nature sought to capitalize on the unique conditions created by the pandemic to provide fresh insights into the questions. A team of Austrian scientists led by Stefan Stieger collected data on over 400 participants’ communication and mental health over a four-week span during the pandemic lockdown period, using the technique of “experience sampling,” a commonly used longitudinal research technique that involves asking participants to repeatedly report on their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and/or environment on multiple occasions over a period of time. The study had participants report, at the end of each day, their mental health, time spent on face-to-face communication, and time spent on digital text-based communication (e.g., e-mail, WhatsApp), videoconferencing (e.g., Zoom), and telephone calls, as well as outdoor and physical activities.

The results suggest that face-to-face communication indeed differs significantly from digital communication in terms of mental health. The authors found that:

People who generally spent more time on face-to-face and digital text communication during the lockdown had better mental health than people who generally spent less time on face-to-face and digital text communication…and vice-versa.

In addition, “mental health was also better on days when people spent more time on face-to-face communication than usual.”

Looking at the link between various communication modalities and mental health, the researchers found that face-to-face communication was “the most important predictor” of mental health during the lockdown, followed by age (older people fared better), and digital text communication, all of which were more predictive of mental health than physical and outdoor activity. Interestingly, videoconferencing, telephone communication, and gender were not strongly linked to mental health during lockdown.

The authors stated:

Our results are clear: face-to-face communication was much more important for lockdown mental health than digital communication…The multitude of digital communication devices and services available in the Western world still appear to be unequal substitutes for face-to-face interaction.

So, these data suggest that the answer to the first question is yes. Face-to-face communication appears to predict better mental health. Now, what about the second question?

Prominent theorizing about this question proposes that face-to-face interactions may be more beneficial than digital communications because they convey richer, more nuanced personal and social information ( body language , voice pitch, mimic, eye gaze, head position, etc.), thus facilitating higher levels of intimacy and trust among participants. An evolutionary argument may also be advanced: we have evolved with face-to-face communications. Thus, the ability to (unconsciously) detect important yet subtle cues about each other (are you friend or foe?) during face-to-face contact is likely coded into our neuropsychology. Not so for digital communications.

Yet the authors noted that in their data:

Digital text communication was much more predictive of lockdown mental health than videoconferencing, even though videoconferencing allows communication partners to experience many more visual and audible cues than digital text communication.

These findings are surprising as they appeared to contradict the “rich communication” hypothesis.

The authors speculated that videoconferencing:

Can cause adverse effects such as mental tiredness… anxiety due to a focus on appearance, prolonged eye contact, larger faces due to screen size, and the perceived dominance of a communication partner due to low camera position; and cognitive burden due to the slight technological asynchrony of video calls.

They suggested, in addition, that videoconferencing in their sample may have been used mostly in work situations, thus accounting for its less-than-positive effect.

Still, the benefits of text over video, if replicated, and the potential links between videoconferencing and mental strain (“ zoom fatigue ”) await a full explanation, particularly since post-pandemic digital video applications have spread into multiple realms of service, including education , health, and psychotherapy .

In sum, these findings join an emerging body of literature pointing in the same direction. In the words of the authors: “technology-mediated communication is not capable to be a substitute for a face-to-face communication.”

At least not yet. As the rapid recent advance of AI ’s abilities to generate high-quality natural language texts demonstrates, technology’s capacity to usurp long-cherished human functions should not be underestimated. Soon, your robot friend may be able to interact face-to-face with you without mediating (and alienating) screens, and the interaction may prove more beneficial in terms of mental health than a conversation with your flesh and blood pals. Whether this is a future to hope for or dread is a question for another column.

Effective Communication Methods Essay

Communication is regarded as the process by which individuals send and receive thoughts, ideas as well as feelings in a manner in which the recipient comprehends the message in its intended form. Thus, communication is taken as a two way process where the binding force is assumed to be the feedback loop.

Communication can be done verbally or in writing. In most instances, official communications are done in writing because of documentation purposes. On the other hand, most informal communications are done orally. For effective communication to take place, it is important for the communicating parties to make sure that the receiver clearly understands the message and gives a feedback. Failure of the receiver to provide a feedback breaks the communication loop and communication cannot be sustained any longer.

However, when the receiver communicates back, the communication is taken as a two way communication which is essential for communication. Communication can be categorized into three main categories. Communication can be classified as verbal communication that entails both spoken and written communication. The second one is non-verbal communication that includes body language and finally communicating through listening.

Verbal communication is taken as the process that individual’s use to express their ideas, thoughts or feelings verbally. It is commonly regarded as the spoken language. Individuals use enunciation, words choices, pauses, tone, emphasis and loudness in order to enhance verbal communication.

Some examples of verbal communications include: telephone conversations, radio, face-to-face discussions, voicemail, seminars, recorded books as well as videos. Similarly, speakers who use sign languages are also considered to be communicating verbally. In a wider context, verbal communication encompasses written word. Thus, written communications such as letters, books, newspapers, hand written notes, announcements and emails are also taken as examples of verbal communications.

The best effective method of verbal communication is face-to-face communication. In face-to-face communication, the receiver gets the relayed message immediately and provides an instant feedback. The method is considered as being highly effective because of its efficiency as well as the ability of the sender to assess the receiver body language (Cherry, 2012).

Non –verbal communications accounts for a substantial portion of our day-to-day communications. Some common examples of non-verbal communications include; gestures, facial expressions and handshakes. Deliberate body movements are instrumental in inferring certain meanings.

Waving, use of fingers to indicate certain numerical values as well as pointing are some commonly used gestures. Facial expressions accounts for the greatest forms of no-verbal communications. Despite the variation in non-verbal communications across culture, it is noted that facial expressions for happiness, anger, sadness and fear are universal globally (Willey, 2012).

Listening which is considered as the third method of communication can be grouped into three types: passive, active and reflective listening. Active listening is the most effective form of listening because apart from the regular listening, the listener encourages the person who shares the information.

Active listening is instrumental in building strong relationships as it expresses genuine interests. In situations where there is a main speaker, passive listening is the best since the speaker does all the speaking and the audience the listening. Reflective listening is considered as the best form of communication when someone is frustrated, worried, upset or confused. It mainly acknowledges feelings over content (Bennett & Hess, 2007).

In order to succeed in establishing the required community policing, there must exist effective communications across all stakeholders that are involved in this project. Because of the existing politics in the internal and external groups, it is essential to ensure that appropriate communication methods are adopted.

The group that is spearheading this project should ensure that it engages all the internal departments involved in the implementation of the project to an active listening. The managements should listen actively to the challenges they are encountering and encourage them to propose solutions on how the management can help them overcome the problems.

Alternatively, the management can request the complaining factions to write a letter that explains their reasons of dissatisfaction and give recommendations on the way forward. The management should read the letters and write back to the groups consoling them for the challenges they are encountering and explaining to them on how the management can intervene to assist them.

The management can also organize a seminar/ meeting where all the parties involved in the project will meet and have a face-to-face discussion about the project. The management should make sure that it assumes the role of active listening in order to show genuine interest to parties contributing. Similarly, it should use gestures such as nodding the head, smile or frown accordingly to indicate how they are being affected by the information being provided by the parties’ contributing.

In addition, the management should engage in reflective listening in instances where the parties contributing are expressing their dissatisfactions, worry and dismay. The management on the other hand should appoint a key speaker who is very conversant with community policing that pertain to drug issues.

The speaker should be given the hand written notes of all the issues raised by the represents of the community and departments. The speaker should then conclude the meeting by educating the group about the benefits that both the government departments as well as the community at range will enjoy by implementation of the community policy. In addition, the speaker should address how the management will cater for the worries and frustrations of affected groups (Davidson, 2000).

In order to have effective communication in the groups involved, the management should adopt various strategies of communications. Because the community concerned is composed of low- income earners, there is a high possibility that most of the residents in the area are not highly educated.

Therefore, the managements overseeing the project should organize seminars at religious centers or in surrounding schools and invite appropriate professionals who will educate the community about the benefits of establishing community policies. In addition, the managements should request the professionals invited to prepare booklets that they will be given to those attending the seminar.

The booklet should contain detailed information about community policing. It should explain how community policies are established as well as indicate the benefits they bring to affected societies. The booklet will be used to educate the residents who will not get the opportunity to attend the about the benefits of community policies.

Effective use of communication methods is essential in ensuring successful communications. The management that is overseeing the implementation of the community policing is being faced with its challenges for lack of appropriate communication strategies.

Therefore, the management will succeed in its mission by adopting effective communications such as use of seminars, face-to-face discussions, gestures, active, passive and reflective listening as well as ensuring to give feedbacks to sustain the communication loop. Use of booklets should also be used to educate the public about the importance of community policies.

Today, there are many opportunities to communicate with friends and relatives with the help of modern technologies. Online communication becomes more popular with the youth because there is no necessity to go out in order to learn the friends’ latest news. From this point, the popularity of online communication grows at the expense of personal contacts. People often choose to stay at home and share news and opinions with the help of Twitter instead of going to the café.

Thus, the computer-mediated communication became the everyday reality which is convenient for people who do not want to spend much time communicating personally or do not want to change the comfortable atmosphere of their homes in order to meet friends. Although online communication is the latest tendency to define the specifics of the people’s interactions, the computer-mediated communication should not be discussed as the negative factor influencing the quality of the people’s everyday interactions and relations with their friends and relatives because online communication is only the other form of interacting with the persons from the people’s social circles.

Online or computer-mediated communication can be discussed as a kind of stimulation for people to support their relations with the other people, sharing the information and opinions with the help of the instant messaging system, chats, or different posts in the social networks. Valkenburg and Peter pay attention to the fact that “recent online communication technologies, such as IM, encourage communication with existing friends” (Valkenburg and Peter).

New technologies allow continuing active communication after friends’ meetings and personal or face-to-face interactions (Warschauer). Thus, people receive the opportunity to contact their friends and relatives during the whole day long and develop their relations.

It is important to note that while communicating online, people are inclined to make their communication similar to face-to-face interactions with the help of emoticons and other popular techniques.

Furthermore, emoticons are usually used “in positive contexts than in negative contexts” (Derks and Grumbkow, 101). Nevertheless, computer-mediated communication cannot be discussed as an effective alternative to personal or face-to-face communication. That is why it is possible to speak only about the tendency to decrease the number of personal contacts than about the absolute ignorance of face-to-face communication as the important element of any interpersonal relations.

From this perspective, modern technologies provide people with a lot of possibilities to communicate regularly and much without any necessity to go to the cinema or café to talk with friends. Such technologies as Skype help create the illusion of the people’s presence. The instant messaging system help create the illusion of a real dialogue. Thus, according to Nekmat, those persons who receive and express “their thoughts and opinions on a certain issue online” are cognitively involved in the process of communication (Nekmat 218). As a result, it is possible to speak about the imitation of a real dialogue between persons.

Modern technologies which help people communicate using their computers instead of meeting and interacting personally should not be discussed as the threat to the development of the people’s interpersonal relations. Online communication is effective to encourage people’s interactions and develop their relations because people can communicate without paying attention to their location. Moreover, the decreasing number of personal contacts and meetings does not influence the quality of people’s relations.
